My wife was in need of hip surgery when we visited so she was not to happy about walking over the rise from the car park to get to the rim of the canyon but when she made it there and back she told me it was worth it. There is little except the view from the rim to see and you may see some canoes on the river on their way downstream. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the car park - less if you are fit - and the path is quite good so the whole experience should not take more than 60 minutes.
If you have some spare time, do not miss to visit the Horseshoe Bend! In less than one hour you can be back at your car and you will not regret the short hike. The view is fantastic but be aware of the edge.
Horseshoe Bend is located close to the city of Page, Arizona. Once you park your car at the carpark, then take about 1 mile walk. There was no charge to visit, means FOC....hehe... Truly amazing place to visit and worth to walk. But there are no fence there, so must keep an eyes on the kids. Be careful!
Short and easy hike to a great view. To get there just take US Route 89 south out of town and look for the turnoff (signed) to the right. Sunset is not good for taking a photo as you are looking right at the sun. Sunrise is much preferred, but of course has a cost in convenience. Not to be missed while you are in Page.
