Owner description: Horseshoe Bend is the intimate Grand Canyon experience (although technically located in Glen Canyon.) The trailhead to this 3/4 mile hike is located just outside of Page, Arizona. It overlooks one of the most spectacular views on the Colorado River, 4 miles south of the Glen Canyon Dam, and 7 miles north of mile zero of the Grand Canyon.

“Easy hike - awesome view.”

It's just a bend in the river, but it is really cool. I went there right at sunset and had really great lighting for pictures.

“Beautiful spot”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Not to long of a walk from the parking lot and the view is worth it. Be aware though there are no barriers.

“Breathtaking”
Reviewed January 23, 2013 via mobile

A short 3/4 mile hike is well worth the time. The views of horseshoe bend are breathtaking. If you have vertigo or small children stay back from the edge as there are no barriers and it is a long long way down.

“Worth a visit if a photographer”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

Morning shots of this sight are preferred-I did both sunrise and sunset-the former were the best light this time of year. It is about a mile hike each way-from the parking lot it is initially up about 150ft. on a sand dune-then down hill to the bend--remember it is uphill all the way but the final 100 yards-dune to the lot. I cannot over state-be careful-it is a 1000 ft. drop from the Navaho sandstone edge to the river. Further it is often very windy at the site. Sandstone weakens and slippery after it is wet-especially in the monsoon season. There are fatalities here-just be smart and careful.

“Most beautiful at sunset of course”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

We visited this seemingly inconspicuous landmark one evening after coming back from Zion National Park (about 2.5 hour drive back to Page). We wanted to see it at sunset after all the reviews TA strongly recommended it and I'm so glad we did. The pull off is easy to find and is 1/2 mile outside Page proper on Hwy 89. We took the sandy 3/4 mile hike down to the Colorado River and after just seeing sand and reds for most of the hike, the greens of the Colorodo popped out at us and was spectacular. Expect to see several folks hanging out waiting for sunset as that is when the colors pop the best. People move around the canyon edge so that gives you time to see the colors from different angles and get your pictures. It is a very romantic spot and because of the beauty and solace, people are usually quiet. If you sat in one spot long enough, the gnats will get to you, but they are bearable. It is definitely worth 45 mins it takes to walk down, see and fall in love with Horseshoe Bend and hike back up. It's a must see!
