Amazing Canyon, a jaw dropping experience. Fabulous rock formations, best visiting the canyon after noon, so to get nice light on the rocks.

It was very good and our tour leader took off before we knew what happened. She should stay and around and announce well thank you this is the end of the tour because we wanted to tip her and so did others but she just took off. But the trip was worth it .....I was terrified going down the flight of steps though but that was the worse part.

What nobody mentions, is that both the upper and lower canyons are in Navajo lands and they are not in public land. So to visit, you MUST get a guided tour. The lower canyon is cheaper, and it takes one hour to traverse the 400 meters or so. The formations are spectacular and the guides are very helpful with photography, sometimes taking them themselves with your iphone or camera. They know all the best angles and settings, so I let Raymond do it and just made a note to tip him a bit more.

We went to Horseshoe Bend first and then drove to lower antelope canyon which is only a few minutes away. You have to make reservations in advance with one of the two tour providers. We used Ken’s. They do have a few walk up reservations but you might have to wait several hours for a tour with open spots. Unlike horse bend, the sun and elements are not as big of a factor. You are in a slot canyon several feet below the surface without a lot of direct sun.

The tour is a walking tour which has a few staircases/ ladders. They are not hard to climb, we had four kids between 7 and 16. They all enjoyed the canyon. The canyon offers spectacular views and breath taking picture opportunities. They allow pictures but no video and only hand held cameras or phones, no tripods. Well worth it. The tour lasts about 30 mins.

I unfortunately got to do it in a less than ideal time frame, but it's still worth the trip. I would love to come back again for a better time to really enjoy the different lights.

See my review at the tour thru the canyon - a visit you need to do - a high price but fair - good guides

The lower canyon was simply awesome and 5 stars to our tour guide, Cody from Ken's Tour. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, informative and took the time to explain many aspects of the canyon. Our time slot was 9:30AM and all went well. We also saw the light beams.

We did this to her as a couple and we did not make advance reservations. If we did, we would have been in the Canyon a little bit quicker but we still don't have to wait too long. The Canyon itself is great, they take in groups of about 15 people at a time, it is good for getting some pictures, especially the panoramic photos of the K Canyon opening above you. Due to the group size it can be challenging to get all the shots that you want, but for that you can go to one of the other less frequented canyons like waterhole Canyon experience

Make sure you ask for Dylan Arthur, he made the canyon so much more interesting by his knowledge of the artwork down under and how the river flows thru during bad seasons and reforms the canyon... Dylan was amazing
