“Far exceeded very high expectations”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

After reading the reviews posted on this site and others, my girlfriend and I decided to book a half day kayak trip with Hidden Canyon Kayak in May 2013. Simply put, we were blown away. We were greatly anticipating our first kayak trip together -- and the Lone Rock Beach tour was more than we could have ever hoped for. Our guide Craig was FABULOUS -- knowledgeable, skillful, and fully attuned to the needs of our group. We would enthusiastically recommend the half day tour to any couple of any skill level. It was easily the highlight of an amazing 5 day tour of Arizona. Next year we hope to take them up on a longer tour for more amazing memories!

“Kayak on lake powell”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

My wife and i had never kayaked before, our guide Craig was great showing us how to get our two person kayak moving with synchronized paddling. We paddled the lake taking in the beautiful scenery. We took a short walk on some of the dunes when the wind picked up, then proceeded into an outstanding inlet where we explored some of the unique rock formations up close. Craig was also taking pictures of my wife and I and sent us links to the photos. High tek for guys that make their livings with paddles. A really great afternoon with a really personable guide that loves what he does. I would recommend this company and our guide for a really great day on the lake. Don't miss this one.... Thanks again guys.

“Awesome day! Thanks Hidden Canyon Kayak!”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

A group of three of us in our twenties did the full day tour and it was a great introduction to Lake Powell. Our guide Clint was very knowledgeable about Lake Powell and Page. The Kayak was great and the hike even better! A very nice and secluded slot canyon, we didnt see another person during the entire hike. Couldn't really recommend more. If you are in Page, love the outdoors and want a great day then give them a call!

“Fantastic kayaking afternoon!”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

We had a fabulous afternoon of kayaking on Lake Powell! Craig was a super guide and showed us some neat sights. Really enjoyed the hike on the sandstone. We hiked in Grand Canyon earlier in week but our kayaking outing was definitely a highlight of our trip!

“Spectacular Way to Explore Arizona”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

Given all that Arizona has to offer, this is a must-do way to discover more about the Colorado River, Lake Powell, Page and this magnificent state, or as our 12 year old son said after our kayak trip "epic"! We have 3 sons aged 14, 12 and 8 and Hidden Kayaks provided the right kayaks for the level of experience of all in our group. Most of all, Dave, our guide struck exactly the right level of geology, history, sight-seeing, safety and fun for everyone in our group during our all day trip. He was great with our boys, letting them lead the way in the kayaks (whilst keeping an eye on them), test the mud first (which provided lots of laughs for the rest of us), and explore the slot canyons on the hike, by showing them holes to climb into, narrow walls to stand between and even lizards to stroke and pop on our youngest shoulder whilst walking. Most importantly though, the hike was the right pace for everyone in our group and no one felt hurried, Dave providing advice on camera settings, taking shots of us all in the kayaks and pointing out key features of the amazing landscape we were seeing for the first time. We didn't see another soul on our hike (a true escape in Labyrinth Canyon) and our boat ride out there, and even on the late afternoon trip back, only a few boats. It was a special way to view the butes, slot canyons and the waters of Lake Powell. Once back at the boat, before a leisurely lunch my eldest son and I braved the ice cold water for a swim, which was refreshing and recommended! My husband and other sons walked up to the top for another, completely different panoramic view of the rocks, Lake and landscape. Someone else made the excellent point about Hidden Kayaks - this did not feel like a tour/business - Dave is a local, showing us his favourite places on this unbelievably enormous, spectacular Lake Powell. We all loved it!

What to take: Hidden Kayaks told us exactly what we needed - water, sunscreen, boat shoes (we used our canvas hiking shoes, which were perfect), swimming costume, hat/cap. Everything else provided, including water bags for cameras (although Dave took some lovely shots of the family and us all in the kayaks so I didn't even take my camera out until the hike)

BTW - we went to the Glen Canyon Dam Visitor Centre (again following Dave's advice) the next morning and this was well worth the trip. We could have spent hours there learning about Major Powell who explored the Colorado River, the politics of water rights in the USA and the engineering feats it took to build the dam in the first place, creating Lake Powell. Once again, the Centre's guides were excellent, one gentleman (Duane) spending 45 minutes talking to us. Brilliant.
