Not the most amazing hotel but it fits a purpose. We stayed here en route from Grand Canyon to Monument Valley. This was the nicest hotel we could find and to be fair it was better than expected. The pros: great lobby and gift shop. Stunning views. Great location for heading to Antelope Canyon and Monument Valley. We got the largest room we could and it was spacious. It was also well located near the main lobby. Cons: Ugly brown carpeting and low ceilings in corridors don't help. Rooms do look dated and are fairly simple Restaurant food not good but OK though service was friendly enough.

We came to see antelope canyon, horseshoe and Grand Canyon. For a family of 5 there aren't a ton of options in the area. I would recommend lake Powell resort, get a room with a lake view but don't expect service or great dining. Enjoy it for what it is, comfortable access to the places you want to see.

The casual dining area may be some of the worst service we had in years. The breakfast service was better but the coffee was undrinkable except for the Starbucks servicing shop in the lobby. I would recommend dining in Page rather than the hotel.

The hotel rooms are old and had good days a few years ago. Everything worked and served its purpose. We didn't spend our days in the hotel.

Room Tip: Get a lake view

First off, everyone should have Lake Powell on his or her Bucket List. The majestic scenery is truly The 8th Wonder of the World...yes, it's THAT spectacular!
--Now for the review of Lake Powell Resort / The Wahweap Lodge. We have stayed there about a dozen times. This last visit (10/2012) prompted my need to write this review. The pics of the "short sheets" were actually taken a year ago. I was dumbfounded that housekeeping would pull such a stunt. It made for a fitful night to say the least. We complained. The response was, "Very sorry....we've received lots of complaints....new sheet have been ordered". (Note: the pics of the sheets were not staged in anyway. They actually depict the results from a night of wrestling with illfitted sheets). ---We let it go and I chose not to report on TripAdvisor. However, when we returned to the Lodge this month, the first thing I did when we checked into our room was to raise the bad covers and check out the sheets. Guess what? --The same short sheets!!! I called housekeeping and requested sheets that actually fit the bed. Can you imagine the absurdity of sure a request? Housekeeping promptly changed the sheets on both beds with the appropriate sheets. ---Obviously, they have been using short sheets for over a year. I strongly suggest you check the sheets upon check in.
Now for some deserved good stuff.... --With proper sheets, the beds were very comfortable. --The wall-mounted A/C unit is very noisy. That's the nature of such a unit, so you just accept that. --The rooms are a standard floor-plan; bathroom and vanity right off the entrance. I think a big plus is the Arcadia door to the patio. You can park your car within a convenient distance of your patio. No need to loop around to the end of the building and walk the long corridor to get to your room. --The Rainbow Room (restaurant) offers a gorgeous view of Lake Powell. The food is very good too. However, the lodge is a major watering hole for large tour buses. The restaurant can be serving 500+ for dinner. Management does a good job of moving the traffic, so do not let that be a deterrent.
The lodge is fairly old, but management has done a super job is remodeling and refurbishing. Overall, I do recommend a stay ....but....check your sheets!!!

Room Tip: It will cost about $20 more for a lake view room. If this is your only opportunity to see the lake t...

The reception/check in area promise so much. The area is clean, attractive, inviting.
The room we had was clean, shabby and uninviting. And overlooked the car park. I suspect having a view over the lake would have distracted us, but overlooking a carpark means you have nothing to look at other than the fixtures and furnishings! They need updating, and so do the motel style buildings, which I didn't expect to look like they do after first seeing the check in area. It was just so disappointing!
Rooms are clean, with separate bins for recycling, etc. TV, fridge and coffee making available.
Bathroom not huge but again clean. Terrible shower that no matter how much we tried would only produce one small stream of water. They do seem very keen on protecting the environment, so perhaps this is some way of reducing water consumption?
The swimming pools are attractive and appeared clean.
The big plus for this hotel is its location. The views of the lake are amazing, with boat trips right from the dock. The water is clear, and the hotel has a 'beach' that can be easily accessed.
Small gift shop by reception. Limited beverages and sweets/chocolate. We drove to Page (10/15 minutes away) for dinner and shopping, so cannot comment on the restaurant other than the menu appeared pricey - But then the food may be amazing?

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the lake

The ONLY reason we stayed here was we wanted to take the early morning boat trip to Rainbow Arch - the tallest natural arch in the world.

The resort is the only handy accommodation, and unfortunately as we did not have a reservation we got a carpark view - but the room was large and comfortable.
The restaurant has a view over the lake and the food was really excellent.

The swimming pool is small, but not crowded, as most guests will be out on various water excursions.

Travelled as a (mature age Australian) couple for all of August 2012 throughout California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona and into Colorado by car. Generally did not book ahead, prefer to have freedom to linger as we please, and to actually see the room before we commit. Have travelled this way many times before in USA and Europe. Stayed at a variety of hotels and B+Bs from 1 to 4 star. In busy areas (San Francisco) we booked in advance from Tripadviser reviews.

Room Tip: ask for lake view

We planned this trip to stay at hotels that were nearest the area we were visiting. The Lake Powell Resort is right on the lake and only a few minutes drive to the boat and watercraft rentals. The rooms were spacious and clean and very satisfactory. Be sure to request a room facing the lake. There is a restaurant at the resort that is pretty good and a small starbucks for coffee and snacks in the morning.

The location for this hotel is outstanding however the staff and service was terrible! Staff were rude, surly and very unhelpful ! The hotel itself was pretty average, the rooms, in particular the bathrooms and hallways in urgent need of redecoration and upgrading.
The food in the restaurant was average at best and the bar food was served with such ill grace it put us off eating there. We went for lunch on the outside patio and were told by the waitress on "duty" that she was too busy to serve us. We asked if we could get food if we came in to the bar to order and collect it, to be told that we would have to wait a while for it too. When the food did eventually arrive it was after 50 minutes and lukewarm at best. Our complaints were not taken up.
With the exception of Dylan in the restaurant, the staff from the front reception desk to the serving staff were awful. The location of this place is the only thing to recommend it, with wonderful sunsets and views, but don't expect any resemblance to good customer service!

Room Tip: Ask for a lakeside view or else you may get one overlooking the car park, or the fish cleaning stati...
