Great experience not only visiting. The Dam but participating in a guided tour. It’s a must! Paige was our guide and not only was she friendly but also very knowledgeable. She even gave us some other local recommendations!

You will need to book ahead, the tours sell out. Go to the Glen Canyon official building just across the bridge, to buy the tickets, which are inexpensive for a guided tour. You will be with a guide during the entire tour (about an hour). Lots of information and interesting.

Best value by far for families. Book early. Ample parking available onsite. Limited number of spots per tour....note, morning tour spots fill up quickly.
Strict Policy on what you can and cannot bring in on the tour. No issues. Totally agree. Basically phone and keys.. Pass thru Homeland Security.
Tour guide was articulate, good sense of humour and made it interesting for all ages in our group.
Great viewpoints of the lake, dam and river.
Make sure to add this to your list when visiting the area.....so worth it!!!!

One of man's great engineering marvels, Glen Canyon Dam is truly a breathtaking sight. The tour of the dam gives you excellent views of both the dam itself and the bridge that was built in order to construct it. Our tour guide, Paige, was cheerful, informative, ready to answer as many questions as she could. A wide array of exhibits in the visitor center give you information about the dams' construction, its uses, and water management in the West. This definitely adds to the experience. If you're in Lake Powell, it's well worth taking the time for this tour.

The tour takes you to the top of dam, which gives you great views of Lake Powell, great spot for pictures. The tour also takes you down below to the generators where you can see the inner workings of the dam. The tour lasts about 45 minutes, you'll learn about the history of the dam and area. Well worth the $15 we paid for a family of 4 (2 adults & 2 teenagers).
