We took this lodge and the tour as a package: the selling point for us was the ranger on board of the tour, who was supposed to explain and educate on the area.
The lodge is set in a beautiful settings, the views are incredible so are the trails, the rooms are clean.
The tour was NOT good. The ranger on the tour was NOT knowledgeable. He was dry, boring and tedious.
The restaurant on property is much less than mediocre, see seprate review.

We stayed at Glacier Bay Lodge in mid-August and it was great. The rooms are like cabins in the woods, connected by boardwalks. One evening when we were walking to the lodge for dinner we saw a momma porcupine and baby up in the trees right by our room. The meals at the lodge were very good, service was a bit uneven, but you are far from anywhere else so if it's slow - who cares? The food tasted great. We cruised Glacier Bay and on day 1 the boat had some problems,we could only cruise at "kayak speed" and never got to the glaciers; however the company stepped up and offered us a free trip the next day, with beautiful weather we saw bears, whales, wolves and many new bird species. I would certainly return to Glacier Bay Lodge.

Room Tip: View rooms on the bay don't have a panoramic view, but worth the extra

The national park system is amazing. You can't get better value for your money. I used my tour saver coupon and got two nights for the price of one and what a bargain. Watching the sunset from the lodge deck was fabulous. The location was great. The lodge has a van that picks you up from the airport and takes you to town if needed. The hiking trails begin right by the lodge and th Glacier Bay boat ride leaves right from the lodge dock. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Gustavus. The food was tasty, the room large with a beautiful view and best of all we were very lucky with the weather. Glacier Bay is not to be missed.

We chose the lodge and boat tour package. The lodge is an excellent site for everything you want to do. Courteous staff, excellent rooms and great food at the restaurant. Everyone was courteous and helpful. Take advantage of the park ranger movies, talks and tours as they are an excellent way to learn about the area. At the lodge there were porcupine in the cottonwood trees eating leaves. The boat tour to the end of Glacier Bay was spectacular. We saw black bear, brown bear, black wolves, orca, humpback whales, sea otters and harbor seals. Of course spectacular glaciers. Expect to be over feed on the trip. The lodge has a shuttle bus and the lady who drove was very entertaining. Wish I had her name to add to this.

We enjoyed this lodge and all ,it had to offer. We choose the package from Aramark for two nights, the boat tour of Glacier Bay, along with all meals and free use of bikes and kayaks.

The rooms were clean but the walls were thin. Our neighbors should have realized this but were ignorant to the fact.

The food was good. Service was bit slow but no where near the slowness complained about by other reviewers.

We did some hiking. We did some biking. We took the boat tour and saw many land and sea mammels. The weather was good for all three days with only a few sprinkles.

Our family of four spent two nights in a room at the lodge. All rooms are remote from the main building and are connected by boardwalks which less than one minute away. Nice room with double and two twins. Bed was not the best though with hikes and walks we were tired and had no trouble sleeping. Very helpful staff. Second floor of the lodge has very nice exhibits and hands on area for kids. Ranger talks and movies each night. We went on a morning hike with Ranger Dave to the beach and the forest through the terminal moraine area of the glacier. The kids found starfish, sunfish, sea urchins, limpets, and many more items of interest. The place is so remote and relaxing I did not want to leave! Great views. Hope I get back some day.

Room Tip: any room is fine. Do not spend time in the room! Get out and explore if only to the second floor o...

We stayed here one night while visiting the Glacier Bay National Park. Good accomodation!! It is hard to lug your luggage to your room because of many steps especially if your room is one of those at the lower levels in the property like we did. We had a view of the harbour from our room but I wonder whether that was worth spending money on, since there is lot of trees on the property that obstruct views. The ranger staffed information center at the property is very good. The restuarant service is slow but the food is good.

Room Tip: It is not worth spending money on a room with a view since the views are obstructed and it is better...
