“Disappointing!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2013

We were hoping to have a nice steak dinner here on the first night of our Glacier trip when we were here mid-September. We sat out on the patio which was nice but instead of table candles/lights, they turned on the porch light when it got dark outside which took away a little of the atmosphere. We both ordered the bacon wrapped filet (cooked medium) with bourbon sauce which was served with bok choy and mashed potatoes (baked potatoe wasn't an option when we asked our waiter). Either it was in the freezer too long or else they substituted another cut of meat but it was the toughest filet ever. A very unsatisfying meal. Only the sauce was good but it failed to make the meat taste good. Wouldn't have mind the price but it was not worthwhile as quality was lacking.

“Great meal and atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2013

This is a wonderful place to stay, and also to eat. You can eat inside on the terrace overlooking the mountains, road and rails. They cook food based on what is locally produced, although some of their fish had to be flown in, or delivered frozen. The chef is creative and imaginative, working in a smoking indoor/outdoor kitchen. It all turns out really good. Wines and beer served are also outstanding, as is the attentive, caring service. Highly recommended

“Good food in an historic building.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2013

My entrée was a Montana free range beef sirloin strip topped with a mushroom demi-glaze, accompanied by a blue cheese filled popover and onion bacon potato hash. My wife had a brown sugar and bourbon cured Montana beef filet wrapped in bacon, accompanied by roasted shallots and whipped potatoes. Both entrees were good, but my wife’s filet was a better piece of meat than my free range beef, although I liked the preparation and accompaniments of my meal better than hers. A nice salad accompanied the meals, but strangely bread was only available as a priced appetizer. We usually skip desert, but we were talked into sharing a chocolate “special” which turned out to be a piece of rather ordinary flourless chocolate cake.

They do not take reservations, but there was no wait for the inside tables. Being a historic place, it was a bit dark and claustrophobic inside. On a warm night, the tables on the terrace would be a better choice, but on the night we were there, there was long wait for the outside tables.

“West Glacier must visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2013

At least once a year we get to visit Glacier National Park. We love to eat at the Belton restaurant.
Very well thought out menu with some excellent dishes. The staff understands that the customer is the center of it!s reputation.

“Nicest place in the area.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2013 via mobile

We avoided dining here for a few days since it was a bit pricey but we finally tired of the roadside restaurants and wanted a nice meal in a nice place. We weren't disappointed and it was worth the price. We both thought the food was great - my husband had a marlin special and I had the Montana meatloaf. We ate in the taproom and service and ambiance were wonderful.
