The menu was varied and at first confused me but we ordered various items and enjoyed all of it. The staff is very welcoming and wonderful.

“This summer they charge $5 for bread??”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

We have eaten at this restaurant for the last 13 years at least once each summer when we visit Glacier National Park. We've found that they have the best food in the West Glacier area. However, this year when we noticed that there was no bread served with the meal. We asked our server about it and she said that there was a "$5 charge for bread". We looked around and noticed that no one at any of the tables we could see had ordered the $5 bread. The food has always been good here and it continues to be good; I just had to mark them down this time for that ridiculous bread charge. I hope in the future they will change that.

“Don't Miss the Belton !!”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

Excellent! The service was over the top, the food selections were out of this world (Locally produced beef, Emu, produce). The place was packed by the time we finished a cocktail and got ready to order dinner. The wine/beer selections were very good, plenty of apps and main courses to choose from plus daily specials. Our waitress was spot on with her descriptions of the entrees. It was fine dining in the mountains. Casual attire was OK, great location just outside the park. The Belton is a historic landmark, very well cared for, clean and well staffed. Don't miss a chance to visit the Belton!

“The best berry pie I've ever had”
Reviewed August 25, 2013

Overall the dinner was great, we liked everything what we ordered, but the desert was phenomenal. Try mixed berry pie in oatmeal crust with scoop of huckleberry ice cream - heavenly! We sat outside, enjoyed a very nice view of sunset over the Glacier Park. It was our last evening in Glacier and I think dining in Belton's we made a right choice for the dinner.

We tried Belton as a direct result of the Trip Advisor ratings. The food was below average, and the prices were quite high. There were a limited choice of entrees.
Our big issue was the temperature in the dining room - at 700 PM, it was 95 degrees INSIDE the place. I complained to whom I assumed was the manager, and got a somewhat surly response. "Hot?? it's cooler than it's been in the last few days!"
Since we were starving, we elected to stay despite the roasting temperature.
My wife had overcooked salmon, and I had a bland beef stroganoff. Not much beef.
I asked our server about the temperature, and was told that the owner was well aware of the issue, and refused to do anything about it, because, supposedly that installing A/C would necessitate taking the place off the historical register. The server also told us that hot dining room temps were a source of constant complaining, and that many people just took their food orders ToGo rather than remain in the oppressive heat for one more minute.
After several days, we have determined that West Glacier is NOT a mecca for fine dining.
Our best meal in he area was at Three Forks in nearby Columbia Falls.
