“A Great Romantic Getaway”
Reviewed January 2, 2009

I visited Lake Five in the winter off season and I had a wonderful time I can't imagine how great it would be in the beautiful Montana summers.

The lake looked like something out of a Norman Rockwell painting. The main lodge ,has tons of ambiance. The cottages are quaint and the perfect size for a cozy nights sleep. The camp host is a great conversationalist and goes out of his way to make you feel at home. I plan to go back some day for the summer music concert held there each year.

Plenty of camp spaces, there are even great looking Indian teepees t hat you can rent close to the lake. I would highly recommned this resort, it has everything true nature lovers can appreciate, great scenery a gracious camp host, colorful canoes, just a wonderful trip back in time...

Location, location, location! Lake 5 Resort was perfect for our family. The lake is beautiful and tucked away from all the busyness of other places and we had all the amenities we needed, canoeing, swimming, campfire pits, our own picnic table and easy access to the beach. We stayed a week and we could have easily stayed a month and been comfortable with our cabin and the limitless choices of adventures to be experienced at the resort or within a 1/2 hours drive to Glacier National Park, Columbia Falls, Whitefish, Big Mountain, West & East Glacier.

  • Liked — Being right by the lake, Simple, clean, the accommodations were what we were told
  • Disliked — Some of the amenities were a bit outdated and not up to par

Anyone looking for a campground with well spaced treed sites then this is definitely NOT the place to go. The camp sites are so close together you’re packed like sardines with little to no space (you could reach over and touch thy neighbor) . With our tent trailer we had no room for our picnic table (it ended up sitting over the firepit that we also weren’t able to use due to lack of space). The price of $40 / night is outrageous. The lake is the only saving grace for this ‘resort’. We would not recommend this resort to anyone looking for a spacious and peaceful camping experience.

  • Liked — The lake
  • Disliked — The campsites have very little space or privacy

There are people impossible to please. Fortunately 97 percent or thereabouts, the majority of the public, are good guys. That small portion that is left is the public enemy and they tend to cause harm wherever they go whenever they can. All we can hope is that we recognize and discover their intentions before they damage property or injure a reputation. We also hope to improve and get better—more friendly. We wish the same for them.

The cabin was very clean & simple,(lake, trees & Montana views & fire rings). We travel with two dogs & found this to be a wonderful place for all of us. Very close to the west Glacier. Ron was very friendly & helpful.

With yearly summer trips to Montana, one of the best throw-backs to Family Camp-outs, is Lake Five Resort. Near Glacier National Park, this pretty emerald green, smaller lake is somewhat warmer than most of the glacier lakes or rivers near by. The beach and camp ground is small enough for children to freely wander. RV lots and older Cabins are available. Prices have risen over the past few years...and the per night cost is climbing, yet somewhat still reasonable. Having a smoldering campground fire, and a Big Sky sunset is priceless. Kids use their flashlights for 'crabbing' at the dock after dark.

Don't miss the 'Bear Adventure' down Hwy 2, where 'your car is your cage'. Hope they don't close this park as state/county officials yearly threathened. It's the closest we want to be near a bear, the whole week! Try huckleberry pancakes, when in season. Take in a few "Ranger Talks' at the Park...and enjoy the outdoors.

Lake Five is a great place to go camping with your family. It is small enough to be personal but big enough for privacy. Kids love it there. They can go swimming, fishing, water skiing or just lay on the beach and relax. It is a place where people go year after year so you often see the same faces every summer. It is close enough to Columbia Falls, Whitefish or Kalispell for shopping and there are lots of tourist attractions nearby. Love it!!!!
