“Everyone has fun”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

My family and I stayed at Lake Five in August. I originally choose it because of its dog friendly accommodations. What a surprise we had when we discovered this spot. The grounds are lovely and our cabin #5 was perfect for us. The water is great ( surprisingly warm) and Ron let us use the canoes for sunset rides. We went swimming and did a high dive from the floating diving board and the whole family enjoyed the slide. Our nightly campfires toasted the best marshmallows for mouthwatering somores. The best part was even our lab Jack got to have fun. I can't wait to go back .

Okay Jack. Here's the deal. Keep being a good doggy and your people will bring you back to Lake Five. You have a nice family. Get your exercise and watch out for the girls. They're fun but can be trouble. —Cody and Ron

Our stay at Lake Five Resort happened by accident. We were traveling from NH to Alaska in our truck camper and met another truck camper from NH. They were heading to a Truck Camper Rally at Lake Five Resort. The rest is history! What an amazing place. The owner made room for our unexpected stay. The WiFi was good enough to Skype our grand kids back home. The fresh ground coffee also was excellent!

Great location, off the highway, on a beatiful lake. Well thought out design for campground services. But most important, the managers were friendly, went out of their way (repeatedly) to be helpful, and made us feel very welcome.

My mother, sister and I stayed just one night in a cabin in early September. The cabin was spotless and the beds incredibly comfortable. The claw foot tub was a huge bonus! Our host, Ron went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. We especially loved hanging with his dog, Cody. The minute we arrived I knew it was going to be special. The scenery and peacefulness of the place relaxes your souls and makes you smile for no reason except that you just feel good about being there. Thanks Ron, for everything, I hope we can come again and stay longer. Give Cody some ear scratches for us.

Don't you know that almost any old bachelor will go the extra mile when three attractive ladies come to town. It's especially interesting when mentalities allow stimulating conversation and Cody is so appreciated. Please stop in any time you are in our area. One day is not enough for Cody and I as well.

My husband's family has vacationed at Lake Five Resort for close to 50 years. We have kept up the tradition of vacationing there with our kids for over 30 years. This summer of 2012 we rented a permanent spot. We absolutely loved it, it is so peaceful and restful there. We feel it is a wonderful get away, and consider it as a little piece of heaven here on earth. We highly recommend Lake Five Resort as a great vacation area for families of any age.

What could be better than a place where customers have been returning for more than half a century? Since the early 20's people have had good times at Retiro Cabins and the Lake Five Resort. Our only problem is that we're second and third generation and getting along in years. Our facilities and cabins are getting along in years too. So what do we do? We upgrade here and there and pretty the place up with paint and careful maintenance. To maintain me, I swim the lake every morning. The place looks good and I keep my energy and we try to keep going for a long time. Lake Five is an important part of a lot of lives and providing those folks with an enjoyable vacation experience has been and will continue to be our pleasure. Stay healthy and happy and keep coming back. Start swimming the lake with me in the morning. We have some more miles to go.

Thanks but the crew and I couldn't do what we do without the enthusiasm and appreciation from you guys. And I know I couldn't do it i couldn't be on the shore of Lake Five tucked between the Smokeys, Desert and Strawberry mountains. When you guys love it as much as I love it everything is okay and energy fills our hearts. Nothing is nicer than that.

Wow, $110 for a spartan room with absolutely nothing. I am fine with no TV or phone, but nobody told me that they don't even provide towels and soap! The shower was abysmal and leaked everywhere. There's some serious price-gouging going on and it's a real shame. The lake is beautiful, no doubt. This place is probably great if you have an RV and are only paying a "camping" rate. You'll get more out of a Motel 6 for less than half the price.

You are right. Our cabins are Spartan with no televisions. We don’t provide towels or those little soaps. Our web site tells guests of this and that they need to provide their own. When a customer informs us of their need for such things we generally come through and had you voiced your disappointment at the time of your stay we would likely have helped on your price. You say you liked the lake and you think paying $45 or $50 for an RV at Lake Five would be ok. So the $60 or $65 difference you paid for a room wouldn’t be as nice as renting a $65 room at Motel 6 or perhaps even one for $100. You must be finding more interesting locations for the franchise than the ones ordinarily encountered at intersections near freeways or on edges of towns. They are certainly numerous. We are only in one place, in a nice locale and get to charge a bit more. If you buy an RV hit us up.
