“Beautiful View - Okay Accommodations!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2012

We found the room to be clean, functional and well-equipped but dated. Mattress not very comfortable, kept rolling to the middle. The view is phenomenal. Staff very polite and helpful. Convenience store, coffee shop, restaurant as well as some tour options less than a block away. Patio right outside your door with Adirondack chairs and a beautiful view of Lake McDonald. Will definitely stay here again. The dated room is outweighed by the spectacular view. No WIFI or TV but didn't miss it.

Stayed here for one night on late August 2012. Had a room on the first floor; was not too noisy as noted by others. The view is spectacular. Enjoyed relaxing in the Adirondack chairs soaking in the sounds, colors, and textures. It is very peaceful. The Apgar area is more mellow than the East side of the park. Nice starting point if flying in to Kalispell. Great location for Avalanche Lake hike. I wish we had stayed here more than 1 night. Would go back in a minute!

Stayed here three nights the first week in August. Originally, I booked a cabin at Apgar Village Lodge, near Lake McDonald, but once I discovered that the Village Inn was actually on the Lake, I cancelled the cabin and reserved a room in the Village Inn. Be very careful and understand that there is a difference between the two. And both are on the southern end of Lake McDonald. My wife and I travel with another couple so we chose a 2 bedroom unit, which was plenty big enough. The room was clean and comfortable. You could actually sleep up to 6 people with room for 2 on the sofa sleeper. The view from the window of the room and the balcony, outside of the room was breath taking. The bathroom was top notch - the shower always had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The village has a restaurant, gift shops, camp store and a wonderful Ice Cream stand. Try the Mouse Tracks; it the best (and hard to find anywhere else)!

Room Tip: if you can share the cost of this room it's a great value!

The view from this hotel is beautiful; however, be prepared for very small rooms. We had a room with twin beds and my husband, who is claustrophic, had a very hard time. The room was clean and had everything you need but just be prepared for the size. Dinner at Eddie's was so so but breakfast was great. While the walls are thin everyone seemed to turn-in by 10:00 pm.

This was a great place to stay for the view. Our room was on the second floor and faced the lake. What a view. Couldn't ask for a more beautiful view anytime of the day or night. Great place to just relax and take in the view. The water is so clear you can see the beautiful blue and red rock native to the area.

Room Tip: Great place to stay at Apagar for the view.

We spent three nights here at the beginning of a week-long trip to Glacier National Park. The setting is stunning, right on the edge of Lake McDonald, water lapping at the small beach . You can walk to shops, grocery store, visitor's center. Apgar is small and charming, with everything you need.

We had a room with a kitchenette, which was great for making breakfast and for essentially providing us with a separate room with a table. It's really all about the view here, and it's absolutely the best place to stay in Apgar or West Glacier, which is only a few miles away.

The walls are thin, and people do sit out in front of their rooms on Adirondack chairs provided and chat. Generally they disappear around 10 pm, so it's quiet enough. Families stay there, and the kids love the little beach, so there's that kind of commotion going on. Well-meaning staff, very clean property. Book WAY ahead. This place is very popular and with good reason. You can buy tickets for Red Jammer tours in the office, and the Jammers stop by and pick you up for various tours. Lake McDonald Lodge is a short drive away, and you can take boat tours of the lake from there.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a kitchenette; I believe all of them are on the ground floor (there are 2 storey...

This was out first stop on a six week road trip of Northwest America! What a way to start. The room was clean, good size, we had the addage of a kitchen which was great as I cooked our meal and we could sit outside our room overlooking the lake. Beautiful place to start our trip and would highly recommend. The Village itself was small but with sufficient shops etc for your needs. It was a very quiet place without all the rowdiness of "holidaymakers".
