“Great West Glacier Lodge”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

Large, clean, new rooms right at entrance to Glacier National Park. Very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly management. Robust and delicious continental breakfast. Josh, the lodge manager, loaned us bear repellent and provided a lesson on its use.

Room Tip: 1st and 2nd floor end rooms have most windows and light.

I was fortunate enough to stay at the lodge for a week towards the end of the season. Josh and Dean took great care of me and made excellent suggestions for day trips and hikes. The room was clean, comfortable, functional and spacious. Access to the computer in the lounge was useful. Away from the traffic on Route 2 yet close to Amtrak, an excellent restaurant and the park entrance. The continental breakfast was outstanding. Really could not have wished for a better introduction to this very special region. Will plan to return.

On the Plus side:
- Great hosts! Dean gave us so many great hiking tips. Both hosts went out of their way to make our stay very pleasant
- The property must be very recent; everything is very clean and functional
- Lounge has an iMac and connection to a printer
- Very quiet - you don't hear the nearby passing trains

On the OK side: different guests will attach more or less importance to this:
- Only one night-stand in our 2 Queen beds room
- Decoration of the room is kept simple
- Only liquid soap. Bring your own bar soap if you need it

On the Minus side:
- No wifi in the rooms - only in the lounge, which can at time be a little noisy depending who's having breakfast on the 1st floor...

Room Tip: We had a corner room (#6) which was nice with windows on 2 different sides of the property.

Spent two nights here, and so happy with the choice. I'm fairly picky and I can't think of a single fault (oh, ok, our lock stuck once). Josh was a great host, providing expert advice on local trails and the park as well as ensuring everything ran smoothly. Upstairs room was perfect, especially as there's a large covered balcony to sit out on. Lacks dramatic views, but that also means it's calm and quiet as it's set back from the main road. Bed was comfortable, and shower was good (the two single most important elements of any hotel room for me). Can easily walk into West Glacier village (though take a torch if you'll be walking back in the dark).

Room Tip: I would definitely choose an upper level room just so you don't have people above you

We stayed here the first and last night of our trip and it was our favorite of all the places where we stayed. Tucked into the trees with beautiful flowers in barrels and baskets with a lovely landscaped area between the lodge and trees backing up to the main road, the lodge is quiet and peaceful. The inkeeper, Josh (and his 4 legged sidekick, Max) checked us in, helped with our bags and suggested a great place for dinner. Our rooms were attractive, spacious, comfortable, and immaculate - loved the sparkling clean bathroom. Each morning there was a continental breakfast served with many choices and a freshly baked treat; Josh had coffee ready for earlybirds. There's also an open airy room upstairs with comfortable chairs and a computer - a great place to read a book or just hang out and look out the windows. My only regret is we had to move onto the east side of the park and couldn't stay here longer.

My husband an I (in our 60's) stayed here for four nites in Sept 2012 and had a great experience. The rooms are very pleasant, clean, comfortable and it's in a quiet location. It's run by Glacier Guides, http://www.glacierguides.com/ and Josh, the innkeeper, really knows the area and is happy to share suggestions on hikes, things to do, places to eat, etc. The other guests were very friendly and shared their experiences and suggestions. The continental breakfast was a great way to start the day.
I highly recommend staying there if you're planning to spend time on the west side of Glacier.

Wonderful new B&B style modern hotel just outside the west entrance to Glacier Natl park. THe host Josh was so helpful planning our hiking stops, breakfast was fabulous, and room was really nice. Just had trouble with the electronic heater/AC, but not a show-stopper. Would go back again in a minute.
