July 2010 in Glacier for vacation and fly fishing. Booked a full day trip back in March with Glacier guides. They lined me up with "Irv". Been fly fishing for 40+ years and had the most wonderful time with Irv. Irv knew the water, knew the hatch and knew the flies that would work. I could not have asked for a better guide than Irv. A good conversationalist, very knowledge about guiding, boat handling, the bug hatch and fly fishing. We spent about 7 hrs together on the water in his Boston Whaler, just he and I, and I boated (and released) 20+ fish of which 3-5 for 13" or better. I will be going back to Glacier, soon, and I will definitely ask for Irv. He was also very knowledgeable and open about recommending other water in the area that I should try and fish and about both access and wading conditions. Irv was absolutely top notch

We took an all day hike with Becky our first time to see Glacier Park. she was very informative and knew many things about the park , animals, and plants. We wanted to do some short hikes so she took us to the cedar hike and the virginnia falls trail. We were very disappointed we could not stop at Logans pass and hike the trail around the lake. We tried twice to park but the lot was completely full. We felt she could of taken us there first and we would of seen this great area of the park. They supplied lunch for us that was very nice and they drove us around in their car. Overall we had a great time but were disappointed to miss the Logans Pass.

Two adults and 15-year old son took an afternoon trip on the Flathead River. Our guide, Dean, was full of interesting information about the river and the history of the park. The river was pretty low, so not a lot of "thrill" in the rapids, but it didn't matter to us. We had a great time. We really appreciated how well organized the trip was - they provided all the gear we needed (including neoprene booties). As we got off the river, it was great to change into dry clothes and enjoy a delicious meal prepared by our guides. Fun for all of us.

Glacier National Park is spectacular. I flew from Brussels, Belgium, for a 6 day back packing trip using Glacier Guides. Our party consisted of six people, including a sherpa and guide. The Glacier Guide Facility is impressive and the equipment provided for the trip was excellent and in good condition.
That's where the positive comments end.
The guide provided us was impersonal, rude and unknowledgeable on many aspects of first aid. At one point I was refused a gauze bandage to cover a blister, which later developed into septicemia and was treated after returning home.
It was not clear who prepared the food for the six day hike, but there was very little protein - virtually vegetarian. Calories from daily meals were calculated to be approx. 1,000 calories, far less than the 4,000 calories used daily. Food costs per person were estimated to be less than $7/per person/day - or $35 pp/day. For a trip which costs $850 pp/week, the food costs were less than 5% of the trip. Not only were meals vegetarian and low in calories, several were just inedible.
The guide refused us to have lake caught trout, citing the bones would attract bears; we were chided for picking flowers, citing 'leave no trace' ( like flowers don't regenerate).
Although the park was grand and the trip was spectacular, it could have been so much better given a personable, non-nit-picking, non-vegetarian, mature guide who could cook.
I recommend this company solely on the fact that we just had a bad guide. Glacier Guides were very attentive to our needs prior to the trip.

We did a half day white water trip with BBQ dinner package. The trip was class 2-3 - which means there were enough bumps to be fun but a great introduction to rafting for the person with me, who was hesitant. Our guide was Vince and he was superb. Another group who had booked the day canceled so it was just the 2 of us and Vince in the boat. What could have been a long an awkward afternoon was anything but. Vince was funny, entertaining, and knowledgeable - a real pleasure. When we got back they had prepared a fantastic buffet with steaks and chicken, fruits, veggies, cheese balls, etc... for just the two of us, but it was so much food that we insisted that Vince join us. It was all in all a fantastic day and I would recommend them to anyone. I wish the rapids were more closely spaced with less float time, but I don't see how Vince can change the river. :D Oh- and they have token showers (a huge plus for anyone camping in Apgar). It was a great day, I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
