Owner description: Glacier Guides and Montana Raft is celebrating its 35th year of guiding Glacier National Park adventures! We are an eco-conscious company based in West Glacier, Montana, offering whitewater rafting, scenic floating, hiking, biking, backpacking, fishing, equipment sales and rentals, and lodging, in and around Glacier National Park. We also operate the quiet, cozy Glacier Guides Lodge at the west entrance to Glacier National Park, and have a charming Guest House available for family escapes. We strive to provide exceptional, interpretive adventures in the Glacier National Park area, while always protecting Glacier’s unique ecosystem. Our focus on safety and preservation is unequaled, and underlined by the fact that Glacier Guides was chosen as the exclusive backpacking guide service in Glacier National Park, by the National Park Service, from 1983 to present. Let our experienced guides show you Glacier’s secrets, from its pristine whitewater and scenic rafting rivers, to its 732 miles of delightful hiking trails, to its backcountry huts, Granite Park and Sperry Chalets. Join a scheduled half, full, or multi-day trip, or let us customize a private Glacier National Park adventure just for you and yours. Anglers, inquire about our Fly Fishing School and Five Day Smith River Exploration, too! Visiting us in the spectacular shoulder seasons? “Great Guides!”

The Middle Fork of the Flathead River is amazing! The views are great. You shouldn't bring a camera with you (it may get wet) so buy one of those cheap disposable cameras so that you can get a few snapshots of the trip. If you are looking for adventure, plan the trip for early in the season. Our mid-September float was lacking in thrills, but great for the mild mannered traveler looking to see this area from a different perspective. Plan on a couple of hours when the water is moving fast, or up to four if it isn't.

“No one does it better!”
Reviewed August 20, 2009

If you love mountains, backpacking, and whitewater rafting, visit Glacier National Park. But if you want to experience all of those things in the best way possible, use Glacier Guides and Montana Raft. I recently returned from my third trip with them and each and every time, the experience has been wonderful. It starts from the top...with the three people that run the company. Randy, Chris and Denny do a superlative job. Their guides and staff are among the nicest people you will ever want to meet. The guides' level of skill, knowledge and professionalism in the backcountry and on the river are tops, not to mention being great chefs and pretty good storytellers! Whether traveling alone as I did or with others, after a trip with these folks, you will come away from the experience with wonderful memories, new friends and the need to begin planning your return trip to NW MT. Thanks again to everyone at GG/MRC for all you did this time round. Hoping to return soon!

“A hiker's dream”
Reviewed September 2, 2008

I took a ten-day hiking and backpacking trip through Glacier Guides, the sister company of Montana raft. It was beyond amazing - the itinerary, the guide service, the campsites, the views, the *value*. If you are a hiker who likes the occasional weekend trip, this is the group for you. All the meals were prepared, all the campsites booked, all you have to do is hike from one to the next and set up your tent, they take care of the rest!!

If you want to see the best parts of Glacier, this is the way to do it!!

“Wonderful 3-day raft trip with cabin overnight stays”
Reviewed July 15, 2008

I had an excellent experience with this company. All arrangements prior to the trip went smoothly. When we arrived for the trip, our guides were helpful and accomodating, and very professional. Kiandra and Maria worked with our group, and we couldn't have been more pleased with their level of organization and preparation.

I'd recommend this company to anyone who needs to plan a trip from afar.
