“Silver City Staple”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2013

As one other review stated very accurately, this is an all American, family style place. I live here so wasn't on vacation, just out for lunch with a good friend. Our locals go here because it has been around for so darn long. The Kiwanis, the Realtors, and other groups take advantage of it's large meeting rooms. We opted for the salad bar minus the soup. In my opinion, it has everything you need for a wonderful salad. The lettuce was a pleasant mix, not just cut up iceburg lettuce. Things were fresh and nice and lots to choose from including several fresh fruit items, cheese, you name it. One doesn't need much service for a salad bar but our waitress did everything right.
The location is good for the modest budget because it is in the middle of Silver City with several older, reasonable motels nearby. Don't come here for the view or new age appeal. It is close to historic downtown and easy access to our wilderness area and Pinos Altos ghost town. If you have a few extra bucks to spend and are looking for a more refined dining experience, I would go to Diane's. Our choices are limited here in Silver City.

“All American Fare; Family Atmosphere; too much rosemary”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2013

A family-style restaurant. All-American food, a conscientious waitress, fast service. (Of course, we were practically the only ones in the restaurant, so the cook only had to work on our dinner.)

Top sirloin was good. Creamed spinach had too much rosemary. "Signature Thyme Fries" were tasty. Chicken Pancho Villa was good. So were the mashed potatoes and "Signature Cole Slaw." I would eat here again.

“All Out of Food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2013

Didn't actually eat here as the waitress informed us up front they were out of all burgers, a few steaks, the fish AND, the cheese poppers. ha! We decided to leave based on the look of the other diner's plates.

“Slightly Above Average”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 15, 2012

I had several meals, two dinners and a lunch, at this place. The food was good but not exceptional. It is a huge barn of a place without much ambiance. It has a lounge downstairs. The staff were very personable and efficient. The first night I was there they were having trouble in the kitchen and things were a bit slow and orders wrong. The manager ended up comping my main course. There is a huge salad bar with lots of selections. For lunch my second time in I had a hamburger that was just enormous, 1/2 pound! Delicious but too much even for a trencherman like me. The prices were very reasonable and this would be a good stop if you are traveling with children. Not the place for a romantic date with your sweetie. A great place to "eat up"

“Can't be Beat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 7, 2012

What a neat place! Rustic setting with a diverse menu. Would
recommend staying away from the fajita dinner. It was ok, but
not the traditional fajita dinner we are used to in Phoenix. Other
than that, The Red Barn was the only place we had dinner.
Very good food at very reasnable prices with nice atmosphere and close to ou motel. What more could you want?
