We spent 3 nights in the Mimbres Room at Bear Mountain Lodge to celebrate my husband's birthday this past week. The Nature Conservancy owns and runs this beautiful lodge and we would like to thank them and the staff for providing such a wonderful place to relax and enjoy nature and all its wonders and joys. They also have a wonderful naturalist on staff that takes you on guided walks and short drives to the nearby Gila River Nature Conservancy property where we were fortunate enough to see two beautiful soaring Black Hawks as well as several other birds such as the Blue Grosbeak which we had never seen. The food is outstanding as well. Breakfast is included but for a reasonable additional charge you may obtain a boxed lunch and a wonderful evening dinner! The cooks provide a different menu every evening and they were each delicious. This is definitely a place we will return to - perhaps make it a yearly birthday celebration!

What a lovely, quiet, peaceful spot. We stayed 3 nights in the Hummingbird Room. Coffee is out by 6:30am, along with cereal and a few other cold items, and breakfast is from 7:30-8:30am. You can sign up for a sack lunch ($8.50, and worth it) the night before, and also sign up for dinner, which is $18.00. I'd definitely have most of my meals there, as the food is delicious and I don't think there's much else around there that's quite as good. There are several trails on the property that give you great views across the valley, and there are many things to do nearby. We went riding at Wolf Horse Outfitters (great) and did the Catwalk at Whitewater Creek, which was amazing. Great landscape, good food, nice room with a big bathroom - I'd go back!

The peacefulness and serenity of the area was so restful. We were very surprised that such a nice place existed in this area. We were so sorry that we could not stay another day and partake of some of the nature hikes and other activities. The room was very nice and comfortably furnished. Breakfast was very tasteful and the whole atmosphere was homey and comfortable. The staff made us feel welcomed. We recommend it for any one wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of city living and just relax. Hope to be able to go again.

We spent two days and didnt want to leave.
It was one of the most peaceful and relaxing places we have ever been. The common areas and the room we had were lovely. The lodge sits on about 160 acres and there are interested trails on the property.
We took all our meals there and everything was done very well, and quite a bargain. The staff was excellent, and all the guests who were there while we were seemed to feel the same way.
Cant wait to go back.

Encouraged by other TripAdvisor.com reviews, we looked forward to our stay here, and were not disappointed. The rooms are large, nicely appointed, and meticulously maintained.

The lodge itself, and its general atmosphere, makes one feel more like a family guest than a paying customer. The right mix of good organization and informality is provided by the staff.

Although there were no televisions, you are not completely cut off, as there is a free high speed intenet connection to the PC in the lounge area. There is a good library of nature-related books, and the small gift shop offers interesting choices for both adults and children.

We took the longest of the trails on the property, which was not too daunting, and which provided some scenic views, and brought us close to nature.

This was our first visit to Silver City, and we would describe it as a work in progress. There are a couple of decent restaurants, and an emerginng arts & crafts scene. It seems to be achieving a critical mass for good historical preservation. If so, this would make a great destination for several days, combining the Bear Mountain Lodge, Silver City, and the many surrounding natural attractions.

10 of us Tucson Pathfinders spent the July 4th weekend of 2004 at the Nature Conservancy's BML in Silver City. It was a very nice and enjoyable experience. The staff was very helpful and attentive, the included breakfasts were excellent and plentiful, and the reasonably priced dinner that we ate there was also very good. And there were always fresh-baked pastries, coffee, tea, and cold sodas set out during the day.

The Saturday all-day hike guided by lodge naturalist Mike to some of the NC preserves in the area was extremely fun and educational. Along the Gila River, we saw deer, huge jack rabbits, evidence of beavers, a Western yellow-billed cuckoo, a white-faced ibis, herons, bear and mountain lion tracks, hummers, phoebes, a nestling common black hawk, adult black hawks, and much more.

Mora and her lodge staff are very competent and professional and make BML one of the most enchanting and comfortable nature-oriented, lodge-type B&B's in the United States. It is a very tastefully done luxury facility that is not exactly cheap, but worth every penny!
