“Good and reasonabley priced”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

Really nice place and great burgers. The veggie options aren't massive though. Good food, really good service and very affordable. Worth a visit.

“Fun for brunch, drinks, or dinner”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

The menu of small plates and creative cocktails evolves from season to season. The service is always friendly and efficient. I really appreciate the range of veggie options, the solid draft beer choices, the use of seasonal vegetables, and the choice of quieter homier atmosphere in the back versus lively bar scene in the front room.

“Beast, but with burdens”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Food here is quite good, but it's overpriced, and servings aren't too ample. Can be very noisy at times, too.

“Sublime Food, Amazing Prices, Sweet Amience”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

Who knew that 25 blocks from Park Slope, on the other side of Flatbush Avenue, lies this gem, situated on the corner of Bergen and Vanderbilt in Brooklyn's Prospect Heights. The "crack" bread (named because it's so addictive) will start you on your way. Main courses the night we visited include mahi mahi, scallops with a fabulous sweet potato mash, a rack of lamb and duck with a fruity sauce to melt the palette. There's a lovely wine list and, up front, a pretty active bar scene. But in back, you can take a delicious meal at a quieter pace. Supposedly, the main chef was a Chopped contender. We're told that, on Mondays, all main courses go for $9. Unreal. Even on a Saturday night, we got out with appetizers, main course, wine and dessert for under $60 a person! A really really special place. It's not fancy, which means your money is going for the food. Don't miss Beast.

“A pleasant bar.”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

Beast is predictable, consistent and not too challenging. It's on Vanderbuilt Avenue in Brooklyn, so it's in a quickly changing neighborhood siphoning up the people somewhere between their late twenties and early re-hab. It's acceptable bar-food. It's a lively bar-scene. It's in a cool building. Not a destination on it's own, but certainly worth checking-out if you are in the neighborhood.
