“Beautiful and peaceful place”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

Yowza, this was a HUGE place, so be sure to wear good walking shoes. Although we didn't begin to visit the whole cemetery, we were able to see the grave sites of several famous Americans and sit by the beautiful ponds. There are also some great vantage points to look across the river and see One World Trade as well as the Statue of Liberty.

“Wonderful tours”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

I have enjoyed the tours given at Green-Wood Cemetery. This is a definite "don't miss". There is so much history there and the guides do an excellent job. Green-Wood has many famous persons buried there and many interesting headstones. Check it out--you won't be disappointed.

“An exceptional, "off-the beaten track" Brooklyn destination”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

Though lesser known than its famous cousins, Green-Wood Cemetery is really worth exploring - absolutely beautiful grounds with great views; a fascinating history tied into the early evolution of NYC; and an amazing array of "residents" with major historical, political, economic, and cultural signficance - and some architecturally stunning memorials. Also special events at times and a variety of tours available.

“BEAUTIFUL GEM IN BROOKLYN”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

greenwood cemetery is a must see when coming to visit brooklyn. hook up with one of the many knowledgeable guides that can point out the beautiful sculptures and headstones as well as the many famous people buried here. check the website for upcoming events (i.e. concerts, visits to the catacombs). the cemetery is a beautiful oasis in the heart of the city.

“People are dieing to get in.”
Reviewed July 29, 2013 via mobile

It is a hidden gem in NYC, it's the inspiration for Central Park and therefore all public parks in the world. Great for an early morning walk as they are open 7-7 in the summer.
