“Wednesday trolley tour is great value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 24, 2013

We booked on tour A for the 1pm Wednesday trolley tour. This covers about 1/3rd of the cemetery which is huge. The park like feel and interesting tombs and features make this visit a must. You can try walking the cemetery (its free) but its miles and miles of roads, and hills and we think it would be hard to find the famous people buried here. The $15 tour lasts 2 hours and is fantastic. Book early.

“A jewel in the middle of Brooklyn”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2013

Who would ever think that visiting a cemetery could be so enlightening? In the mid-1800s this was a destination that rivaled Niagara Falls in New York State. There is a wonderful trolley tour that takes you up and down the hills of this famous cemetery.
May was a beautiful month as the trees are in bloom and the
grass was green!
This was the site of a Revolutionary war battle With spectacular views of the Manhattan skyline.
The famous conductor Leonard Bernstein is buried here, Alongside many other industrialists and famous New York citizens.
Louis Comfort Tiffany is resting here, and some mausoleums sport his fantastic stained-glass windows.
Come and enjoy a wonderful morning or afternoon here!

“Wonderful Day Trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2013

I and 3 of my friends went on the Greenwood Cemetery's Trolly Tour. Some people might think a day at a cemetery is macabre but this place holds so much history, has beautiful architecture and landscaping, you'd hardly know you were touring a cemetery. We went when the hundreds of cherry blossom trees were in full bloom. Beautiful! The tour guide was very knowledgeable; there are 3 different tours and I've been on 2, will return for the 3rd.

“Loved the trolley tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2013

A few colleagues and I took the trolley tour this past weekend. I was amazed by its expanse, beauty and views. I hadn't known this was the steepest spot in Brooklyn, and how many people of prominence are buried there. The cemetery truly is an outdoor museum! I am anxiously awaiting a new exhibition opening this mid-May at the Museum of the City of New York which will chronicle Green-Wood's past, present and future. I encourage folks to spend an afternoon exploring Green-Wood - though we only got through a third of the cemetery so we do plan to go back. The fee was for the trolley ride - we saw so many people just walking around as well.

“A great place for tourists”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2013

If you can take a tour then you will be exposed to the rich history of this cementary. Even if there are no tours you can get a guidebook and do it on your own. Lots of walking but worth it. Really
