“Rude service, tiny room and incredible noise”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2013

Whatever was going on ourside our room sounded like a combination jackhammer and drill. The noise level was comparable to that to a leaf blower INSIDE the room. The WiFi allows only one computer on it at a time; that might have been fine but even single people have multiple devices with WiFi contact now, and we were a couple traveling together.

The desk clerk treated our arrival as if we were an imposition. His first words were "ID!."

The garage is wide open. This wouldn't be a concern at a roadside motel in the country but this is BROOKLYN. "If it ain't nailed down...."

How small is the room? It was so small that the desk chair has to be pulled out sidewise. Otherwise the AC/heater pins it under the desk

If you are reading this review then you are probably going out of the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. Stayed there for 3 nights before catching a ship. The taxi from LaGuardia was a bit more than $30 dollars. The rooms were small and very basic and need updating. The room had some outside noise. Wi-Fi worked ok, couple of porno stations on TV so don't be alarmed. The surrounding area looks a bit ominous but walked to the metro station a couple of times a day and never came close to any problems even late at night. As always, use common sense. The walk is maybe 15 minutes basically through a residential area with families and kids walking the streets. Metro gets you into Manhattan or south to Coney Island. Easy to get around but would suggest getting a metro pass. At check in received maps and some brochures on Brooklyn and Manhattan. Employees were friendly enough and answered any questions. Room was maintained daily. Realistically, when traveling for fun, you don't hang around your hotel room anyway. Shower and sleep and get out of the room. Reading some of the previous reviews... I personally did not see anything suspicious or heard nothing about short stay rooms. The walk to the metro is not that bad at all and there are various eateries and bars around the metro station. For the price and location (cruise terminal), you could do worse. If you are going on a cruise, and on a budget, you can stay here, short walk to metro and tour Brooklyn and Manhattan, and when the time comes, walk to cruise terminal and get on your ship. I would stay here again.

I went to the Brooklyn motor inn last Friday. My girlfriend and I needed a getaway and we figured we would stay here. Its a good place for a good price. We have stayed here before. We arrived at around pm and we requested a room for the night. The guy behind the glass said he only had rooms for short stay reservations.I explained to him that we need a room for the night not just four hours. He said again I only have short stay rooms. What kind of hotel only has short stay rooms on a Friday night at pm?Give me a break.I am all about short stays from time to time but it is clear to me that they are trying to pay for their recent renovations by charging people 60 dollars for four hours. The more people that pay for these short stays the more money they make in a 24 hour period. This is wrong and as a result we ended up going elsewhere.I'm sad to say that I don't plan on returning to the Brooklyn motor inn. They are taking advantage of people and should be ashamed of themselves.

Positives: Off-street parking (not secure, but there is CCTV); good shower, real bar of soap, microwave and refrigerator, very convenient to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal (but parking at the Cruise terminal is $20 or more a day; I did not notice any secure off-site lots) and the Cobble Hill and Carol Gardens neighborhoods, as well as Red Hook, of course, where it is located. The Wi-Fi worked OK. For a list of the TV channels, ask at the desk.
Not as positive: There is no coffee in the room, in the hotel, or within 4 blocks or so of the hotel (though there are closer bars and restaurants will deliver). Naturally, the room is fairly small. The There were a couple of hairs in the shower stall (men’s, judging by their length and from the head judging by where they were), which didn’t bother me but might bother others. The room itself was clean, though the elevator rug and stairwell were dirty. It is close to a bus line, but the subways are a bit of a walk. The biggest drawback might be the truck noise. On the Friday night I was there, a Semi ran his motor for more than an hour outside my room and a truck backing up woke me at 5:45. However, that is close to when I usually wake up, so it might not have bothered other people. One unknown is that the building seems to be under renovation. Two rooms on my floor were guttered. This could create a noise problem during the week days.
I chose this motel because of the parking and its convenience to the place where someone I was visiting lived. The Comfort Inn nearby only had on-street, first-come-first served parking. And better hotels were much more expensive. Although I think my low rating of this hotel is accurate, I would stay there again. I’d just bring some coffee. And maybe earplugs.

I came to Brooklyn to attend the West Indian- American Labor Day Parade. I chose this hotel from a blind search on Hotwire based on the 3-star rating and free parking. This was an over rating and at best should be rated 2-stars. The reservation was prepaid and non-refundable else I would have checked out before time. This hotel is not your typical hotel. It is frequent mostly by clients who come to the hotel for a good time and tends to buy the rooms on a 4 hours-basis. I spent 4 days at this location. The staffs for the hotel were very polite but had very little knowledge of the Brooklyn area. The receptionist in the lobby was behind a bullet proof glass, maybe as protection from savory clients. The neighborhood seems safe because there is nothing in the area besides the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel and commercial buildings. The hall way carpet to the rooms was stained badly and looks dirty. There were few amenities in the room but had a good refrigerator and microwave. The room was very small and furniture was dated. The mattress was very soft and sits on iron bed frame without a box spring. The room smells rancid. The hotel has neither restaurant, pool nor exercise facilities and there are none within walking proximity. The Wi-Fi was intermitting and tends to be slow most of the times. Parking was free and is the best thing at this facility.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the road will be quieter because the heavy vehicles movement on the road is noisy...

The location isn't too bad but the place is horrible! The elevators & hallways were dirty and smelled like cigaretts !! When I took the sheets off the bed I found burnt marks and hair all inside . I think the only good part was the flat screen TV but like I said you get what you pay for it's "ok" for last minute place to rest your head

The value is fairly good, because the location is alright and you can park your vehicle safely for no additional cost. The nearest subway is a 15-20 min fairly pleasant walk through Brooklyn - we actually walked from the hotel to Manhattan, using Brooklyn bridge, and it's a great way to explore that part of Brooklyn and get awesome views on Manhattan and the bridges.
The location looked quite safe at any time of the day and night.
On the negative side, the rooms are pretty small and the furniture had graffiti on them. And the receptionist (possibly the manager?) could definitely be more pleasant - it looked like you disturbed him, he looked grumpy and annoyed.
I would recommend this place if you have a car to park and still want to enjoy a fairly central location at a decent price - but don't expect anything fancy.
