Years ago we had a good polish restaurant nearby that we'd go to regularly. Then they closed and we couldn't find a replacement. When visiting in brooklyn we came across karczma's and decided to give it a try. The decor is supposed to be a rustic polish style, seemed a little strained and i cant really tell what kind of weird music was playing, but the waitress in her cute little polish outfit made me forget the decor. The food came quickly and was great. I tried the polish specialty plate....3 pierogis, 2 potato pancakes, kielbasa, hunters stew and stuffed cabbage. Waaay to much for me! took half home. Price 11 bucks!! We had the white borscht soup served in a bread bowl, an order of pierogis with cheese and potato, sauerkraut-mushroom and meat. I'm dont know much about euro beers but the friends with me said the selection is pretty good. The wait staff were all bilingual, polish/ english which added to the overall experience All in all a very tasty, filling meal at a very cheap price!

Typical example of how some people have NO idea how to run a restaurant. Service is really terrible. Food knowledge almost zero. You have to assume that "everything is good", and rely on your senses, because wait staff got no interest in helping you get to know the food on the menu. Once you order, you dont exist. Waitress will walk by ignoring the fact that occasional food check could benefit her tip, confirm quality, or def help kitchen know if they get things right. My order was tasteless, cold, meat uncooked inside, and spent 15 minutes to get staff attention!!!!... It was too late for me to re-order, so waitress dissapeared immediately with the plate, and i spent another 10 minutes begging for check!!! There were maybe 10 guests in there altogether, and 3 waitresses-mostly busy with texting, chatting with each other, or dissapearing in the back. Not even an occasional eye-contact..!!!! This wasnt the first time, and i am finally disgusted. Shame, and waste of a potentially great spot and fantastic ppl around them. Never again!!

Good stuff. Authentic environment with staff in traditional dress. Get the sampler plate. Fantastic. Really inexpensive.

Good food, fun, incredibly cool decor. I've liked the salmon tartar, stews, salmon, and Polish Specialities. It all looks good. Incredibly cheap for a place like this! Check it out.
