My husband I were looking for a place on Montague (the main shopping street in Brooklyn Heights) to have lunch before the Brooklyn Heights house tour. Several had sidewalk cafes under wide awnings. We were not looking for a traditional brunch menu so chose this one for the salads. My husband ordered the turkey cobb. I had hummus as my main course-it would also be a nice appetizer for 2-4. Two warm pitas, Plenty of hummus. A tomato salad and a tabouli salad nicely presented. The street is plesantly quiet. The neighborhood is architecturally and historically distinctive. Other attractions include Brooklyn Historical Society and the Brooklyn Bridge Park-with carousel and more.

This is a really nice neighborhood place in Brooklyn Heights. Comfort food to the max. Nice size portions, reasonably priced, very attentive staff. Really nice to sit outside on a warm spring or summer evening.

Visiting a friend who had just moved into the area, we went to the closest restaurant near her that seems to have become one of her neighborhood haunts. Nice decor, pleasant atmosphere and service. Lunch was well done, we settled on clam chowder and crab cakes. Not as good as one would get in New England or maryland but very well done. Also nice fries. definitely would be a place we went to often if we lived in this excellant area.

We had a nice filling meal which included an arugula salad, poached eggs and the breakfast platter. The salad was worth returning for - cranberries, pine nuts, goat cheese, a nice vinegrette; it was delicious. The poached eggs came with pulled bbq pork on a corn waffle with salsa verde - nice flavors, though one egg came out hard and the other perfectly poached (runny), so that gave me some pause.... The breakfast platter included raisin bread french toast, scrambled eggs and bacon; all good.
Service was polite though a little slow with refills on water and coffee. We also sat at a table where suddenly we were surrounded by abandoned strollers; it felt a little clausterphobic.
We got out of there with a tab of $43.

We visited the Heights Cafe after an afternoon of shopping in Brooklyn. We ordered several appetizers for dinner, which were large portions, tasty and affordable. Our waiter was very friendly with an attentive staff ready to help when he was busy. We were seated right away. There were several tables with children, so families welcome. The bar area seemed popular and not too loud. We will definitely return. Take a short walk down the street to the water and enjoy a beautiful view of Manhattan.
