“Awful food / smelly restaurant”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2012 via mobile

I went with very high expectations based on all the hypes about this place. I was greeted by an intense fishy smell that lingered throughout my dinning time. The appetizer was good specially the Raw Kebba. the main course ( I think was called Rolled Kafta) which the menu says that it was featured on ABC... Was horrible with tons of herbs and spices overpowering each other and resulted to tasteless heartburn inducing meal. The desert took a long time and was average at best..., Sorry Tanoreen .. Never again!!!!

“Spice wars make sense once you taste this sumptuously spiced food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 23, 2012 via mobile

I never want to eat anything else ever again. The five hour round-trip drive to New York City from Philadelphia seems like a legitimate cost for going to this great restaurant and I hope to get the courage to make the drive again. The grilled meat platter was perfectly done and generous; the traditional hummus, baba ganoush were perfectly executed; the lentil soup was fragrant; and the chicken and zatar spice with almonds on top of bread (appetizer dish) was an all time favorite. Everything was absolutely fresh, home-cooked, and delivered in a beautiful presentation. The restaurant is in a congested and unbeautiful neighborhood( my apologies to everyone in the neighborhood) but it was beautiful inside and the waitstaff made it feel like a very elegant place you would expect to find in the heart of Manhattan. The prices are so low that you know you're not in Manhattan and I'm grateful for this little gem nestled in a work-a-day neighborhood in Brooklyn.

“Best Middle eastern restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2012

Tanoreen, on 76th st and 3rd ave in Brooklyn has the best Middle Eastern food anywhere, including a great selection of salads and vegetarian food, They spice their dishes in their own unique way which brings out the flavors of everything they prepare. Their rolled grape leaves aren't quite as good as 'Sally and Georges' 2 blocks away, overall the food is as good as my Grandmothers. And I would say that about no place else.

“The jewel of all of the restaurants on "restaurant row" in Bay Ridge”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 14, 2012

The service is impeccable, the portions are large, and everything is delicious. Try the Mediterranean Chicken or really anything, even if you don't like Middle Eastern style foods.

“I miss Tanoreen!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2012

Great food. The only middle eastern food I've tasted in NYC that compares to my Armenian/Lebanese grandmother's. I suggest, umm, everything on the menu. Hummus, cauliflower, greenbeans, kibbeh, moujederah. Just order a bunch of the small plates and share. Bay Ridge seems far out there but this place is not to be skipped if you like Middle Eastern food and flavors.
