“Simple but good!”

I ate the lumber jack, containing pancakes, baconc, eggs and sausages. To drink I had a chocolad milkshake. All was good, tasting and atmosphere.

“Lots of good homemade food”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

This restaurant was nothing fancy but the food was great. We both ordered open-faced hot roast beef sandwiches, which were every bit as good as those eaten back when we were growing up. Each portion was so huge it probably could have fed 3 people. The mashed potatoes were real & delicious. the beef was tender and tasty. The gravy was real good, too, but it was the only thing there wasn't enough of. Our meals included homemade soup, which that night was chicken & rice & vegetables or bean soup with vegetables. Both were very filling and good tasting. We also were served very large salads with lots of very fresh lettuce & tomatoes, onions, cucumbers & a generous serving of dressing. There was also a large plate of broccoli with the meal. We were so full we couldn't even think of dessert. There was a very extensive menu to choose from and the service was very good. We felt very fortunate to have found a place like this with such great comfort food during our visit to Brooklyn!

“Was not disappointed”
Reviewed September 23, 2012 via mobile

I love it when you go to a place expecting to get a certain type of food, service and feel.....and you actually get it. Great breakfast diner food with great service and value. To top it off the coffee was perfect, ceramic cups and all. If you're looking for pretentiousness, this ain't the place, just hearty good after Mass food that you can enjoy with family.

“Delicious food, great service”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

It was our first time to Brooklyn and visited this diner based on other reviews. The food was delicious and portions were very generous. The french toast was some of the best I've ever had. The service was quick and attentive. The only negative thing I could say is that the floor seemed a little messy and the bathrooms were a little scary.

“Happy Days are here again!”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

I've reviewed this wonderful diner twice already but it so deserves another mention - the place just gets better every time! This is the third consecutive year we have dined here, and it means more to us than the sightseeing aspect of visiting New York. It feels like 'going home' to see family who you have not seen in a while, such is the warmth of the welcome we receive from the staff and the regular local customers too. In fact, if we are late arriving they go out in the street to see if they can see us coming!

Each day for the 2 fabulous weeks we eat breakfast and dinner there. The quality and quantity of the food is outstanding, and the level of service is first class. The prices are low and the atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. The waiters are simply the best there is, particularly Tony and Reuben, for who nothing is too much trouble. The day chef is skilled and extremely efficient and the boss is friendly and appreciative of our repeat custom.

Please - make your stomach (and your wallet) smile, and visit Happy Days Diner at 146 Montague Street, Brooklyn - it's open 24 hours a day, so there is no excuse for not fitting it in. Say I sent you, and ask them to tell you about the bear who sits on top of the chiller! :)
