“old school style eating”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2012

the place is warm and has a strong neighborhood feel. They have got free parking right next door. The branzino is very good and sometimes they have dover scallops which are sooooo good. Everytime i have gone service is good. It is a nice homey place to eat that i never have a problem being seated right away. Thumbs Up!

“Old Style Italian at its Best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2012

No trip to NYC is complete without a meal at Bamontes - same location for eons. This is where Vito Corleone family would dine regularly. Great food at very reasonable prices, especially for NYC. Waiters seem to be in their 70s and impecibly attired. Bartender has been there for 40 years - mixes drinks by eye and they come out perfectly. Worth going just to see him in action. Neighborhood has transitioned from working class manufacturing to upscale Yuppie - but Bamontes has soldiered on unaffected, undetered and unchanged. Opened in 1900, the year the American Baseball League was formed. Go quickly, lest some apocyliptic event causes it to close before you get the chance, making your life the lesser - just like you neglected seeing Les Paul live at the Irridium.

“First Class Old Style Italian Cuisine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2012

Not just for the food, but an entire Old World Italian restaurant experience... you've got to visit this classic family owned Italian restaurant in Brooklyn. The entire ambiance is Old World Italy... with veteran matre' de' waiters dressed in classy black & white. But, the food is tremendous !! Full of flavor! Large portions to die for !!

“Great Italian Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 24, 2011

Located on the same block as the hotel we stayed in, Hotel Le Jolie, we were very happy to dine twice at this place - a family business with a nice bar. We could look straight into the kitchen. Great service and good value. We'll be back :-)

“A great place for old new york and a good meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2011

Went there for a birthday celebration. The service was truly exceptional. I ordered mussells as an appetizer and three times the bowl for shells was changed without my asking. When the server noticed my napkin was messy, I was given another one, again, w/o asking. Finally for dessert, they placed a clean napkin in front of one of us b/c the area had gotten stained, again, w/o asking.
The food was good. My wife had the stuffed artichoke which she enjoyed as did my relative his fish salad appetizer. The zuppa di pesce was absolutely great, large portions of fish filled the plate.
A good place to go to w/a friendly crowd. I recommend it.
