We are Brooklynites but have not been here for years. We've heard mixed reviews, but decided to try it for a week-late Father's Day brunch, with a toddler in tow. It was a great choice. We had a booth overlooking the harbor and the view was just spectacular. This is a good place to bring a small child - they will have fun looking at all the ships and helicopters, and a title noise won't matter, given that it's an outdoor rooftop. We started with creamy guacamole - quite good. Most of us had lemonade; the one Bloody Mary ordered by our table was just OK - a bit weak. The breakfast burritos were enormous - they come with creamy rice, a salad, and salsa. Enchiladas with mole were also good. This is a great choice for tourists or locals. A lot of singles come here, as do families. An out of the way location, but worth it for the view alone.

We were staying in Brooklyn and heard about this place for it's great view. We were going to the nearby Jalopy Theater (really cool music venue!!) for a show at 9 so decided to eat at Almas. We had no trouble getting a table on the roof top and were seating in a nice size booth. It was still light when we arrived so it was nice to watch the sky darken and lower Manhattan light up.

The food was just fair. Our party of three had the Chilaquiles, fish tacos, vegetarian poblano relleno and short rib enchillados. I guess the enchillados was the winner of the bunch. Nothing was really great. Too bad.

This restaurant was a recommendation of someone who lived in the area. It is over the water from Manhattan and has a roof top terrace. You can't book the roof top terrace as its first come first served, but you can book the floor below which is inside and if you get a table by the window has great views of Manhattan over the water. We booked as we had a large party and the when we arrived they tried to accommodate us upstairs but sadly we couldn't get up there. There were literally queues of people up the stairs, so obviously the local love it. The food was good; tasty and honest mexican food. We also enjoyed the very strong frozen margaritas. Cocktails were about $11 and mains around $15 -20.
Worth noting that the kitchen is open from 5.30 - 10pm ( orders need to be in before 10pm ). Also the bar downstairs is amazing. Pints of cocktails for around $8, a table tennis table, free jukebox and generally a great neighborhood bar feeling.
If you want a cab then just walk a few block to Clinton and you can head downtown.
Highly recommend this place for a unique, relaxed experience.
