Pompette is a new restaurant promised to a great futur. The ambience is friendly, cheerful and inviting. A little part of France in this part of Brooklyn.

From the starters to the main courses, all the food was delicious (although I did not tried all the dishes, I had a good overview). The clams were amazing, the french fries delicious, the cassoulet very tasty....

The wine list (although limited) was also amazing with very good bargain.

Portions were normal and pri was very reasonable. Really DO NOT miss.

Tried this fantastic new restaurant in Court Street. The food is simply amazing. I'm a vegetarian and the thought of going to a French sounding Bistro was a bit concerning. I really expected to watch my meat eating friends stuff themselves with duck and swordfish (both were super, apparently, though that's only second-hand information). So i was pleasantly surprised to find that the four things on the menu I could eat (one entree, three sides) were really tasty. The parpadelle was creamy and perfectly cooked, the brussels sprouts delicious and even the pomme frites (yes, french fries to the unsophisticated like me) were just perfect - crisp, just the right amount of salty and before i knew it, they were gone. For dessert, where I'm not in any way disadvantaged, I had the creme brulee and it was just the right amount of cream and the right amount of burnt.

For drinks, we tried the cocktails - the pompette is great and the flamethrower (sorry, forgot the fancy french name) is to die for, if you like your tequila with jalapenos, which i do! The wine selection is extensive so i can't comment on them all, but i had an interesting riesling - a little different from usual, being French and not German, but interesting.

The ambience of the place (sorry, food takes top priority), is the right combination of old world oak fittings to give it that library bar kind of feeling, with enough lighting and light wood to be able to see your menu and your food and your companions. The bathroom is just perfect, with a lavender soap that I'm dying to know the source of. Well, maybe I'll ask next time. Because i will certainly be going back!

We are spending the week in Carroll Gardens and had dinner at Pompette last night on the advice of our landlady. What a delight! It was a snowy Monday night, so there were very few other diners. The space is simply decorated, warm and inviting, the welcome genuine. the relatively small menu is classic French bistro, perfectly executed; the owner is French. The chicken with parsnip puree and tiny green beans was to die for, crispy skin, with a little pool of butter sauce. Heaven! Our son had the steak frites, and my husband had the fish stew, both delicious. A Cotes de Roussillon was recommended, and it was delicious as well. The prices are very reasonable. We left very happy and will return!
