Description: Cal Elliott's Rye is at heart a classic neighborhood restaurant. Rye's casual elegance offers something excellent for everyone, from an intimate dining experience to a festive group feast. Rye embodies Brooklyn's living and breathing history - a poignant example of how both past and present continue to coexist harmoniously on Williamsburg's south side. Rye, free from outside investors, remains true to the DIY spirit and history of the Brooklyn neighborhood in which it resides.

We weren't able to get a table, so we sat at the bar. The barman, (Dave, I think) was very professional, and gave us good recommendations. The food was amazing, the brussels sprouts especially. The bread was great too, it was caraway flavored, a bold choice. The cream soda style mocktail was a hit! I would certainly go back.

This place has a fun rough-hewn aesthetic, and was packed. But the main thing was the food was amazing. The shortribs with horseradish mashed potatoes, beets and greens was incredibly delicious, and is worth the visit.

Some local friends took us here for dinner. The atmosphere is authentic and the steak amazing. International standard with a neighborhood feeling.

Rye is fantastic. I have been several times and the food never disappoints. Chef Cal Elliott is well deserving of his Michelin star and deserves at least one more. The Sturgeon salad is sublime. The duck confit is the best I've had. The meatloaf sandwich gets a lot of notice and deservedly do, consider getting as a shared appetizer. The cocktails are spectacular, a lost art found. Service has always been top notch. I can't recommend Rye highly enough. I feel very strongly you will leave feeling the same.

$5 burgers. $3 beers. $5 cocktails. Their dinner is good too - meatloaf, ribs, mac& cheese. New twists in our traditional comfort food that's welcoming.
