Booked because it was the cheapest we could find for a party of eight, though we spent around £1,000 on taxis in and out of different parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan. The area (Greenwood) has a large Mexican community, meaning breakfasts were pretty good. The hotel serves breakfast too but you'd be out of your mind to eat there, unless you like your wheat dipped in sugar, then coated in sugar. The 'healthy' choices are woeful. Take a right out of the hotel, walk down to the main crossroads and you'll see a big Mexican cantina on the corner. Opens about 1030 for Huevos Rancheros and all that good stuff.

Staff were functional. Rooms tiny, shower okay, most of our party got bitten by bed-bugs. It always feels a bit easy to hang the 'bed-bug' tag on cheap hotels, because expensive hotels are as apt to have them but anyway, there were bed-bugs.

That's really all there is to say other than local taxi services are plentiful and arrive quickly. Good luck getting a cab back from Manhattan though; four out of four cabbies in the Island either wouldn't take us or said they hadn't heard of it. Probably best to take a cab over the Williamsburg Bridge and catch one from there. At least they've heard of Greenwood.

All this said; if you think this was the worst hotel you've ever stayed in, you really need to stay in more hotels. Or come to the UK and try an unmodernised Travelodge.

Room Tip: You might want to avoid the back of the hotel. There's a rail yard pretty close-by and you'l...

This modest hotel is in a part of Brooklyn that has probably seen better days, but it fit our needs. It was about three blocks from the subway; notice the murals around Public School No. 24 on 4th on your way to and from the subway stop. We found the room very small but clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. There was a pretty good complementary breakfast (by modest hotel standards). The D line subway trains went past right under our window. We did not mind this, but some people might find it disturbing.

The absolute worst hotel I have experienced, ever! We were told that a bigger room was available and they(Days Inn) would move our luggage to another room. When we returned that evening, the front desk clerk(some guy) did not even know where our new room was located nor did he know where our luggage were. This staff has the worst communication a staff can ever have.

Our room smelled like cigarette smoke/marijuana and everything about the hotel was very unclean. Behind the hotel are railroad tracks, so ear plugs and a gas mask are probably recommended.

Room Tip: Cannot provide anything good about this hotel.

When I checked into my room there was old coffee in the coffee pot, and the bathtub did not appear very clean. The described amenities also do not live up to standard expectations. While there is parking, only 10 spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is very difficult to find in the neighborhood. The wireless internet also stopped working after the first day of my visit and I was told nothing could be done about it.

Finally, you can hear the subway through the night from at least half of the rooms. If you have any type of aversion to noise, you will need earplugs.

Room Tip: Internet may be worse higher up - choose a 3rd or 4th floor room if possible.

The front desk staff at this hotel are very rude. I would not recommend this hotel at all. I am not very picky with hotels as long as it is clean... This hotel is very dirty and smells very badly. It is also very cramped. I would avoid staying at this hotel at all cost. You wil also hear the train all night and sirens. I had to get ear plugs. It was the worst 3 nights ever! I was so happy to leave the hotel.
