“Nice place”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

Nice places to eat, drink and be merry. There are fishing boats or you can fish off the piers. You can walk across the bridge to Manhattan Beach and look at the mansions. Walk down to the west end and see the holocaust memorial park. It is breathtaking as well as solemn. I love going to Randazzo's to eat. There is even a restaurant/bar that is a boat.

“Dining with the swans”
Reviewed February 11, 2012

Sheepshead Bay is a bay separating Brooklyn’s mainland from the eastern portion of Coney Island.

It is now the home of recreational fishing fleets. The fishing fleet has been shrinking every year and is being replaced by dinner boats. At the western end of the bay, there is the Holocaust Memorial Park, which is used throughout the year for commemorative events.

In the last decade of the 20th century,a real estate boom brought the reopening of the landmark Lundy Brothers restaurant .There are Italian restaurants such as Randazzo and Il Fornetto serving seafood, and Russian -style restaurants/nightclubs such as Paradise and Baku Palace have opened along the waterfront.

It has also experienced a growth of condominium developments. Emmons Avenue, the northern shoreline street along the bay, has piers with an active seafood market and tour boats.

Sheepshead Bay is named for the “Sheepshead “ an edible type of fish once found in the bay's waters. Even though it is rare, the fish can still be caught in the local waters every once in a while.

Manhattan Beach in nearby and the swans navigate the bay along side the yachts..a lovely place to spend a day and have lunch…a peaceful oasis in the middle of Brooklyn.

“Nothing Exciting”
Reviewed January 28, 2012

Good seafood to be sure, but there's plenty of good seafood all around the area. No need to schlep to Sheepshead Bay just for that.

“Step Back in Time and stroll the bay”
Reviewed January 26, 2012

Still trying to get into the 21st Century the Bay area hangs onto that old fishing town look. It's nice to stroll along the bay after a meal at one of the resturants. The back round is changing from mostly Italian to Russian but still the food is good. Look across the water to Manhattan Beach (the original not the one from California) and see multi millon dollar homes with perfect lawns. The Bay looks a little dingy especially in winter but a stroll along the water will cheer you up. The fishing fleet is still there for over 100 years and the marina. All sorts of boat trips are available. It's a far cry from Disney land the hustle and bustle of the 21st century keeps trying to creep in but Swans swimming in the bay add a magic to the water front town.

“Great Fishing Spot”
Reviewed November 22, 2004

Sheepshead Bay is a great fishing spot, but it is also a huge marina. You can rent a boat or travel on a party boat to fish. There are tons of good restruants and places to shop around the area.
