I have to agree with some other reviewers when they say the "tour" isn't that great. I, too, have been on several brewery tours and this is NOT the reason you should go to Brooklyn Brewery. The reason you should, darn good beers at really good prices. If you like their beer already then you will love their tasting room, they have so many varieties and things you won't get to taste outside of the brewery. Fun Fact: Milton Glaser designed their logo! If you don't know what that means, look it up, you'll be surprised that you know exactly who that is. Pretty iconic. The beer, like the bagels, in NYC benefit from the remarkable minerals in their water. It can get pretty loud in the tasting room on the weekends as there are hundreds of people gathered in a cement floor room drinking beer and yelling over each other. It really didn't bother me, though. One thing I wish, they didn't let dogs in. I am an animal lover but the open door policy that has been adopted for people's dogs has gotten out of control. I felt so sorry for this giant white dog some girl had brought inside the tasting room one Saturday, it was SO loud and crowded and he was obviously not having a good time. Why do I have to look at your miserable dog? Because there is an open door policy for dogs...
Anyway, over all, a fun way to spend a few hours and only a short ferry ride (or train trip) from lower Manhattan. And usually a food truck parked out front to sober you up a lil bit. Fun times!

This tour is barely a real tour. We were taken into two areas at the very end of the session. However, saying that, it was a fun time because the guide was lively & kept us entertained with a good summary history of how the whole microbrewery movement started, with emphasis, of course, on Brooklyn Brewery & cute anecdotes about what makes it unique. The tasting samples are generous & you can buy tokens for even more. This is a nice stop when exploring what all the hype over Brooklyn these days is about.

We love Brooklyn beer so we stopped by on our recent trip to test out the beer and see the brewery. The brewery is a bit of a walk from subway station. It should take you about 10 minutes or so to get there. We've been on several brewery tours so we decided to forgo the tour here and just visit the tasting room. However, we heard the tour was fabulous and that the people who do the tour are pretty funny. We are a bit bummed we didn't go on the tour. However, the tasting room is fun. It's first come, first serve seating. You buy tokens when you first get there -- 5 for $20. Beers are 12 ounces. There tends to be a long line at the bar, but there are several bartenders working an they move you through quickly. They don't serve food but you can order food in. Staff was really helpful and nice and of course, the beers were great! We were able to try several that are not sold where we leave. The Williamsburg area of Brooklyn that the brewery is really cute too. It's worth the trip over there for the brewery and to see area.

We've done many brewery tours and have to say Brooklyn Brewery doesn't rank very high. A 2 hr. tour it is not. Tastings were good, brewery history interesting, but actual "tour" .... everyone is ushered into the "working" part of the brewery to look around a sectioned off area. That's your first hour done. At that point you can return to the tasting room to buy tokens and enjoy more beer for another hour. Have to say, other breweries more generous...none of this "buying" more samples and all breweries let you keep your glass!

Went last week and had so much fun. The tour was informative without giving too much detail.

The beers are top notch and Jimmy the brewer is an absolute legend.
