well if you do and you loved it as I did, then you should go to the Prospect Park Zoo. They have Meerkats! This may well be your only chance to see them, unless you have a trip planned to the Kalahari Desert (sp) in Africa. Even then I understand they are not easy to see. It's not all Meerkats, so if not a fan there are many other animals to see.

The main court yard with the sea lions is really nice. A much more grandiose view/entrance than the Queens zoo. I think overall the Queens Zoo is better but the sea lion show is much better than the Queens one. They actually have a commentator. I guess you could say that the sea lion is their main attraction.

The zoo is just really really small but how can you blame them when there's so many zoo's in the same city. The discovery trail is okay. Not a lot of animals and there's too much fencing (not as good for photography). The Queens Zoo doesn't have a lot of fencing at all.

The souvenir shop is dismal. I think my kitchen is bigger than the gift shop. Not much to look at or buy.

The "cafeteria" area is just vending machines. I guess it's too expensive to have a real grill there. They do have a kosher vending machine.

One good thing is that there's TONS of AC in all the little buildings surrounding the main courtyard. You can see all sorts of animals and critters, but the dirtiness of the glass affects the quality of your photos.

The "Barn" area (or petting zoo) is small too. The Queens Zoo is much bigger but I feel like the animals here are more attentive and interact more with the humans. One interesting display is that the children can learn how to milk cows. They have 3 wooden cows filled with water and they have stools for kids to sit to pretend to milk the cow.

The only reason I'd come back here is for the Red Panda. The panda was hiding and I didn't get any photos of him/her. The dingo here is pretty neat. Not as shy as some other animals.

Parking on Flatbush Ave is free. Just have to walk quite a bit to the entrance.

This zoo is small and simple, and we went on the morning of July 4th when there weren't very many people around. It was perfect for a couple hours in the morning with my 2 year old. My kiddo loved the sea lions, petting zoo and walking along the easy trails. There are vending machines for snacks, though better off just bringing your own.

This is a nice zoo. The variety is amazing especially when you consider the diversity of the displays and the children's zoo. The indoor displays are always worth spending time at and the outside exhibits are well cared for and interesting. One need not devote a whole day - a few hours is fine.
