Many benches to sit down and relax, though the noise of the BQE below somewhat annoying. Lots of construction going on the lower level walkway along the East river

This is one of the best views in the whole city. It is actually built over a highway that was built in the 1950's. The subway is the best way to get here use the #2 or 3 trains to Clark St.

My husband and I went here last weekend to explore a new Brooklyn neighborhood as we have been doing since moving here. We liked this promenade and it's views of Manhattan...

The view of New York City will never be the same now that the Twin Towers are gone. That being said, NYC is breath-taking from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade. The New York skyline is accentuated by the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge and the Williamsburg Bridge.

Across the way you can see South Street Seaport as well as passing boats of various sizes both for work and for pleasure. You can practically see New York City in all of its splendor. It's like looking at the fishbowl and wondering what really goes on in there.

If you are visiting New York for the first time or you live here and have never been, not visiting the Promenade is almost a sin...

When I heard about the Promenade I guess I pictured something more than just a walkway along the shoreline. Shops and restaurants came to mind, with a nice waterside dinner overlooking a fantastic day-turning-into-night view of Manhattan. Boy was I disappointed! Well, maybe “in for a rude awakening” is the better term.
The Promenade is a wonderful area with incredible views of Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge to Liberty Island. Doesn’t matter if it’s day or night – just an incredible vista. There’s a little park to the North with not much in it except walking paths and restrooms. You can leisurely walk the entire Promenade in less than half an hour and take great pictures anywhere along the way. There are plenty of benches, so you can relax or read a book in relative comfort. Nighttime is better than daytime for city views if you can’t see both.
This is just a short 5-minute walk from the Clarke St station on trains 2 or 3.
Typically tourists will go to Montague St afterwards to eat or shop, but I would recommend eating somewhere else. Service and food are more on the mediocre side there.
