Owner description: Dumbo, an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. It encompasses two sections: one located between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges, which connect Brooklyn to Manhattan across the East River, and another that continues east from the Manhattan Bridge to the Vinegar Hill area.

As a first time visitor to NYC, I had no idea what to expect from the DUMBO area. I was pleasantly surprised with the wide variety of shops, restaurants, and spectacular views of downtown. We had pizza at Grimaldi's and ice cream at Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory (both accepted cash only for payment). The views of downtown were a highlight for me in this area.

Took a visitor from Italy to DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights. Walking under the Manhattan Bridge and along the little park by the waterfront, you get a real sense of history meets modern. The park has gorgeous views of the Manhattan Skyline. You can then walk up the hill into Brooklyn Heights on the promenade for more views, and find any number of cafes and eateries. It's a short walk back to DUMBO for a full-circle walk.

The view here is very pleasant my girlfriend and I took a walk along the river and chilled out in the grass area for awhile. A great place to people watch and catch an amazing view of the city.

Brooklyn has many to offer, but Dumbo is certainly an overrated place. While its proximity to both Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges attracts many locals and tourists, the neighborhood itself is quite boring. Except pricey restaurants and shops for splurge spenders, Dumbo is empty. Don't expect too much.

Stopped and enjoyed the view here for awhile while we decided our next destination. Enjoyed just people watching including watching a young man propose to his girlfriend.
