We went here because the lonely planet was very enthusiastic about this place, and ended up having lunch and diner. It's a great place, with great food. Only thing is (but i think it's a culturally thing): they give you your check without asking if we wanted something else. Service is a bit to fast for us Europeans...

Quiet and Cozy Café/restaurant in Dumbo with full Bar. Average prices and a CASH only restaurant. Buzy for lunch crowd during week due to location. Staff friendly and responsive.

We stayed in the area and besides that this was really convenient, the food was really good. The service is also very good and atmosphere is relaxed. We had the grilled seppiolina and the baby octopus for starter: and a good start is was. As a main we both had white fish with spinach: it tasted great! The Pinot Grigio went very well with this. The staff was very helpfull and service minded. And some practical tips: do make reservations for the saturday. They are closed on sunday evening and do bring cash: no cards. Do come with friends. Its a great place to celebrate a birthday.

When we walked past the restaurant, we smelled something wonderful. Then we read the menu, walked in, and WOW were we impressed. From seating until the bill was paid, It was awesome. The people, the food and the atmosphere - all great! I am happy we were out just walking around and happened on this fantastic place. I will be back - and so should you. I was happy we got there about 6:30 because by 8 the place was packed and the bar was 3 deep. CASH ONLY! But they have an ATM in the back - just in case.

I was in Dumbo area to attend St. Ann's Warehouse Theatre, and planned to eat at another restaurant that i found closed due to hurricane damage. Wandering around looking for something not pizza, I sat down in AlMar. The waiter was very welcoming. The space is comfortable and unpretentious. In the center is a large communal table. I sat at a small table for two, wanting to be alone. Both the tomato, beet, potato, feta salad and the braised rabbit were excellent, richly flavorful, pleasingly presented. My waiter was attentive and a good guide to the menu. For NYC, the meal represented very good value for the quality, and turned out to be a perfect start to my evening.
