“Slice of heaven in Brooklyn!”

Please look no further, this hotel rocks! We stayed there a few weeks after the hurricane in November and they had been flooded. We were prepared for the worst, but they were getting things repaired and it all looked wonderful. The service is great at the front desk and the cabs that take you w/in a mile of the hotel are super handy. We took them to the grocery store and shopped to cook breakfast in our kitchen. It's like having an apartment...clean, huge, great location. I know some complained about the road noise but we were on the opposite side of the highway and it was very quiet. The neighborhood is continuing to improve and we walked with our young daughters every night home from the subway station and we never felt unsafe. We would never stay anywhere else when we go back. Some amazing restaurants in the neighborhood...front desk has map.

Making a long story short we lost money booking an apartment in Manhattan because it was an illegal situation so I found The Box House Hotel in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and we couldn't have been happier. Each 'room' is really a small apartment and they even have 1 and 2 bedroom 'apartments'. It's in a gritty, industrial area but within a block or two or walking distance of some good cafe's and small restaurants. The hotel furnishes charming vintage taxi's to take you within 1 mile. We actually walked over the Pulaski bridge to the Jackson-Vernon subway each day for a 7 minute ride to Grand Central Station. Perfect!! Hotel staff were incredibly helpful, friendly and lovely. We were there 6 nights and were able to use the washer & dryer facilities. We recommend the Lobster Joint for casual, inexpensive seafood with hipster atmosphere, Cafecita Bogota for Arepas (charming waitstaff), L'Gamin (tiny French cafe), Anella, Ovenly Bakery and Ashbox Cafe. We will be coming back to the Box House!!

Room Tip: We had to change rooms after one night next to the noise and lights of the bridge but the staff was...

all the positive review is correct it was a wonderful hotel especially when you travel with family, my two boys can crash on the sofa while me and my wife enjoy our unique corner upstairs, the kitchen set is working well and the laundry room is a big help.
The staff is very helpful (my warmest regards for Kevin, May and the checkers cab crew Louis and Sigh) thank you for making our holiday better :)

Just came back from staying at The Box House Hotel and missing it already!
Beautiful hotel, gorgeous rooms & excellent value for money.
The rooms are even bigger than imagined and it really was like a home away from home.
Fantastic staff members who were always willing to help and very friendly.
Beds were extremely comfortable, excellent kitchen & bathroom facilities.
The only downfall would be the ceiling blinds in the bedroom. They didn't close enough so was woken up every morning at 9am but this is a minor flaw.
Fantastic location & only a 5-10 minute walk to the 7 or G trains.
Great spanish deli at the end of the street which did a great breakfast bagel for only $4.
All in all a magic vacation and a perfect hotel.
Thank you so much guys! We'll definitely be back!

I was really excited to stay here but left really disappointed. The staff were really unfriendly and the rooms were much smaller than in the pictures. The pull out couch was extremely uncomfortable and hard to sleep on. The worst part of this place is the expense. It is not in a nice area and theres hardly anything to do or see within walking distance. I could have stayed at a nice place in Manhattan for the same price. They say that they have a free shuttle service but it is always busy and we ended up cabbing everywhere which added another large expense. I do have to say that the shuttle driver is the only decent person working here though. Anyway, I guess you cannot win them all.

Dear worldtravel962,

Our entire staff has been trained to fulfill exceptional service for our guests. We constantly receive positive reviews, many of which praise our front desk staff for being kind and helpful. The smallest suite that we offer is measured at 550 sq. ft.; the size increases to 1,000 sq. ft. in our 2 bedroom suite. Our suites are large and more spacious than average New York City hotel rooms measuring at 325 sq. ft. Actual photos of these suites can be found on our website and throughout the web. We are proud to continually receive countless compliments on our well-appointed suites. The majority of our guests find our hotel reasonably priced for the amenities provided.

Greenpoint is a wonderful location for those who wish to remain close to Manhattan, without the constant commotion and noise of the city. We provide maps of the area upon check-in, with details of many local eateries, shops, etc. Our complimentary checker cab service provide pick-ups and drop-offs within a mile of the hotel. While there may be a wait for the driver to return, it is typically no more than 10 minutes. There are also subway stations and a ferry within walking distance from our property, which provide an inexpensive transportation into Manhattan and other parts of New York City.

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments.

Sincerely,

The Box House Hotel
