Took a trip to NYC at the end of November with two friends. We all breathed a sigh of relief when we saw our loft suite. It was so nice! The bathroom was perfectly clean, the bedding was good, and the suite was nicely decorated with lots of artwork.

The Box House Hotel provides free taxi service within one mile of the hotel. We caught a ride to the Vernon-Jackson subway stop each morning and then took the subway into Manhattan. We called every night when we were ready to go back to the hotel, and then the taxi driver would meet us at the subway stop. It worked perfectly and we had a great experience at the Box House Hotel.

Huge (not just for new york), well appointed room, solid wifi etc.

My only (minor) complaint is that there was no maid service during the day. This wasn't a big deal and was spelled out explicitly in the info sheet when checking in, but I was a bit surprised, since this isn't lowest cost option in Brooklyn. Oddly, it did seem like someone came in and fixed up my towels, just not the bed etc.

The area has a fair number places close by for coffee etc. and the guide to local spots provided by the hotel is spot on.

Spent 2 night in Box House loft before heading back to Australia via JFK after a two week business/holiday trip to NY and Philadelphia. Was picked up in classic taxi from Greenpoint subway and had two relaxing days in the loft. Staff were very friendly, accommodating and efficient. We had a tv in the lounge area that did not work properly but we were out most of the tie and had the second tv in the bedroom area .. Most likely an aftermath of storm Sandy? Would stay there again .. Ad would recommend to friends wanting to stay in a real part of Brooklyn borough

The Box House Hotel exceeded our expectations...an apartment with hotel staffing. An excellent combination. We had a room with noisy pipes the first couple of nights and after recording it for staff to hear, had a room change. Our second room was much bigger, though we were satisfied with the first. Everything was so clean, so convenient, and the staff so helpful. A special thank you to Singh and the other driver whose name we did not get unfortunately, who took us to the train station, to an organic supermarket and to the ferry terminal (as well as a pick up service). Excellent service in those lovely old taxis. We thoroughly enjoyed The Box House and will be back. We have recommended it to friends who are travelling to NYC soon.

Room Tip: Rooms on the inner corridor appear larger. Room 12 is quite small. But the two level rooms look a...

after furiously looking on the internet for a last minute hotel to stay in while working in New York at the last minute i came across the box house hotel... and wow I'm so glad i did. as a female traveling solo i really wanted to find somewhere comfortable and safe and also an oasis from coming home after a full day working - the box house hotel was that and then some!!

here's a few things to know if you're considering staying here:

- the hotel is EXACTLY as it looks in the picture - the apartment was absolutely spotless & in amazing condition. i actually wondered if i was the first person to stay in that room!

- the staff are so lovely and helpful at all times.

- the kitchen has everything you need should you chose not to eat out every night.

- theres also a free taxi service to drop you to places in the local area (bonus!)

i've got nothing but the highest praise for this place and i've stayed in ALOT of hotels so thats saying something!!

after an intense week working staying here made it so much easier and i'd come back and stay in a heartbeat.

- you get 10 times more for you're money here than staying in an average hotel

Everything about this hotel was FANTASTIC...from the accommodations, the service, and the location. The room was spacious, nicely appointed, and with an above-par kitchen. A laundry room was directly across the hall from the room, and came in handy after our almost weeklong stay. The staff was exceptional...the desk staff offered suggestions, directions, & information; the drivers were always accessible & personable; and the housekeeping staff (though I didn't see them & daily housekeeping was NOT advertised), always replaced towels & tidied the room.
Access to the Metro was either a scenic walk across the Pulaski bridge with a stunning view of the Manhattan skyline, or a free ride in one of the vintage cabs owned & operated by The Box House Hotel. Also, a few blocks away is a water taxi stop that provided an alternate AND scenic mode of transportation. We rode from Wall Street all the way to Manhattan for $4/ person. Really nice on a pretty day!!!
Information about neighborhood restaurants was provided, as well as maps and other area attractions.
I would absolutely go back!
