I was looking for the cheapest bed and breakfast place in new york and this was what i found, for the very low price i paid it is really good! Everything was clean and my room was comfortable. The girl that rides it was really kind and gave us everything we asked for. About the cons i have to say that it is not well located, the area is safety but it doesnt look like. You spend like 30 minutes on train to reach upper manhattan, and for coming back at night i recomend to take a taxi in jay street if you wanna arrive safely. Otherwise i really recomend it if you are young people who want to spent few money.
Also i have to say that it is a bed and breakfast but breakfast is not included.

This was a fantastic find! It is impossible to find cheap rooms in NYC without going to roach infested, dirty places. But this place, Odiaaro Suites, is not like that at all! It's like a Bed and Breakfast but without the breakfast. Some rooms have bathrooms, others are shared. Rooms are simple and kind of small, but not cramped. The staff were very flexible when we made reservations. We wanted a room with it's own bathroom but it wasn't available until the next day. So they allowed us to transfer without any extra charges or cleaning fees. When we came in at 10:00 PM our hostess stayed up to meet us and let us in. The rooms were clean. Nothing fancy in the rooms or bathrooms but overall clean and everything works. Bed's are probably the worst part. Not super comfortable, but not terrible. For less than $75 a night, it's a great place. About 10-15 minutes from a main Subway line which takes you to Manhattan and connects to other trains. Neighborhood isn't super scary, but probably wouldn't want to walk around by myself at night. Not much in the neighborhood as far as food. Just some little 'dives'. Anything good is going to be downtown.
So I guess the overall conclusion is, great place, great price, great deal. Definitely recommend!

Room Tip: Rooms with their own bathrooms have more room overall. TV / Kitchen / Living Room is community or s...

I was looking for a cheap stay the NYC area and thought I found a gem in the city. It is close to the train which is nice, only a 10 min walk and it brings you right to Manhattan. Walking around late at night I did feel a little uncomfortable just because it was my first time alone in NYC, but I never felt unsafe.

I think the pictures play up the property a little bit. The rooms are fairly small, but this could be the typical NYC bedroom. I don't know since this is my first guesthouse stay in the city. What you see in the picture is what you get, not much extra room at all. But it didn't turn out to be too much of a problem for us.

The beds were a little bit of a surprise. They are rollaways, with a typical spring in mattress design. Not what I was expecting, but we were so exhausted from walking around all day we slept on them.

Just be sure that if you're staying in the summertime to add the $20/day for AC to the base price. Your trip won't be as pleasant without it. We had no trouble connecting to the WIFI and it was fast as well.

The only real problem we had, and the reason for the rating: you are required to make a $200 deposit as part of your payment. I didn't have a problem with that as I don't live like a pig. Fully expecting to get it all back, I had to contact them in order to receive my deposit in the first place. And then they decided to make ridiculous deductions. Garbage left in the room and kitchen, garbage not recycled, items left in the refrigerator... We made an effort to clean up when we left so I know nothing major, if anything at all, was left in the room (AND we pay an automatic $50 cleaning fee, so how could this be a problem!?). The kitchen is shared with 2 other rooms, but somehow we are the ones that left things in the fridge and trash? The only things we had in the fridge were leftovers (which, we ate obviously) and some rice (which I made a point to throw away...and take out). There was about half a fridge of food from others that was not our responsibility, but became ours in the end. And somehow we didn't recycle, I'm not sure what we had to recycle and how it was determined that WE were the culprits...but got slapped with a $25 fee nonetheless.

And apparently our toilet seat had a cigarette burn on it (another $25 fee). Which the one smoker smoked outside at all times, he's never smoked inside anywhere... But they were gracious enough to let us keep half our deposit and make a note of how nice they were being that they didn't forfeit our whole security deposit because of the smoking. I don't understand how there could be a burn mark and no smoke smell in the first place... Just an excuse to upgrade on the customer's expense I suppose.

All in all, if you value your money, don't even tempt fate by putting up $200 to be taken away on false charges.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Odiaaro Suites for 8 nights at a very reasonable rate. I was nervous that we would be in for lots of bad little surprises because we booked somewhere so inexpensive but we were very pleasantly surprised throughout our stay.

The staff are friendly, helpful, and courteous, but you shouldn't come with expectations that this is a hotel. We met one of our hosts, Greg, when we first arrived for check-in. Other than him, we met the lady would come to clean up in the morning on only two occasions. Everyone we dealt with was super nice and helpful. We received extra towels when we asked for them and had basic questions answered via text. But it's important to remember that it's NOT a hotel - you're expected to clean up after yourself if you use the communal kitchen and take off your shoes upon entering (nothing unreasonable) and there isn't a main desk or anywhere where you can asked questions 24/7. You have to be pretty independent. Our main host, Thais, we never met in real life but she was helpful when we did have a question or two. They also do make the house rules very clear. If you stick to them then you're pretty much left alone for your stay and there's no problem. So in all, just be aware of what you're going in for and you won't be disappointed! Nothing is asked of you that's unreasonable - you're getting a great deal from nice people who are running a small family business. We received our 200 dollar safety deposit back without any problems about a week after we got back home.

Everything was very clean! We shared a bathroom with one other room but the bathroom was cleaned enough that it never felt icky. The kitchen and common room were also true to the pictures online. The bedroom was comfortable, quiet, and very nice! It's very simple (pretty much just a bed, a table, and an empty closet) but we didn't feel like we needed anything else. I should mention though that our king sized bed was basically two singles pushed together. With the bedding and comforter, it really didn't bother us (my boyfriend didn't even notice the first few nights until I pointed it out!) We didn't pay the extra for the AC but they recently installed ceiling fans and we were really comfortable with that! With all of th horror stories that we were told from friends about cheap hotels in Manhattan (especially midtown), I was really happy that we stayed here.

The only thing that might be a bit inconvenient is the location. For us, it was no problem. The guesthouse is close to the A and C lines (which will bring you to the heart of Manhattan) and it's only a 10 minute walk. But it's definitely not just across the street, so be aware that it is a wee bit of a trek. The neighbourhood itself is very charming. It's a residential area made up of beautiful brownstones. Although not considered very safe, we didn't have one problem there - just keep alert like you would anywhere.

So in all, this was a great place to stay. We were really pleased with everything and would definitely book again if we find ourselves in New York in the future.

Odiaaro Suites is a guest house in Brooklyn. The building, though a little hard to find, is lovely, and the street it sits on is absolutely charming. If you want to stay in Brooklyn, but plan to travel into Manhattan, this is a decent choice because of its proximity to the J/A trains (about a 15 minute walk.) It was also very affordable. We stayed in a suite, which included multiple bathrooms and a kitchenette. The kitchenette was supplied with cups, silverware, etc. The suite was fairly clean and very nice looking. I think the photos do the property justice.

Unfortunately, our experience was so bad that I would not go back and I would not recommend it. Our biggest problem was the rudeness of the staff. (In fact, they were so rude, they followed us out the door, arguing with us when we left.) Because they knew we were so dissatisfied, we got a partial refund (we found out about this through an extremely condescending e-mail.)

Our biggest problem was the heat--we were in New York during one of the hottest weekends of the summer, and Odiaaro has no air conditioning (something I NEVER thought to ask about.) Allegedly this is explained on their website, but I have honestly looked three separate times, and I do not see this information. It would have been fine to have realized our error if we could have checked out. Unfortunately, Odiaaro charges you full price in advance, so we were not able to go elsewhere or stay with our family/friends in the city. The experience went downhill from there: the fan they promised arrived a day late, no bath mats, no pillowcases, no lights at the entrance for a safe night arrival. These are all things that could easily be fixed for the next person, but it made our stay pretty bad. We got in late every night, so we discovered the situations too late to call. It was just really unfortunate luck, maybe.

For those looking for the things we were seeking, we selected this place for several reasons, including bed size and breakfast. The website advertised king sized beds (my husband is very tall) and breakfast. Although the bed was large it was more of a cot than a bed. My 6'2" husband spent the night with his feet hanging off the edge of the bed. Breakfast was delivered in bulk the first morning--yogurt and fruit. It was nice (some of the fruit was rotten, but that happens.) We thought it would be more like a bed & breakfast when we booked it, but fruit and yogurt in bulk were fine. It was mostly just annoying that this was not really communicated well, so we did not understand that we were receiving breakfast for three days at once. (And, a tip: make sure you clear out all of the breakfast--we were told we would be charged if any of those items remained in the fridge of our kitchenette! It was weird that we had to clean up the breakfast items we didn't use, as well as items left by the previous tenants.)

For the conscientious among us, there was no apparent fire escape, and hallways were cluttered with large boxes that hampered movement.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask about air conditioning and heat before you book.
