This was the best surprise of my time in America. This hostel was amazing.
I made some life long friends in my time there.
Lauren, the receptionist was the greatest human and helped me out so much.

The room I was in was amazing (6SF Ensuite), on the top level. I had a double bed and so much privacy. I stayed for almost two weeks so I appreciated the level of comfort this hostel offered.

It was in a convenient location and had a great atmosphere.

I am glad the staff weren't trying to push activities on you all the time and just gave you advice on what to do and how to do it. There is so much to do in NY and they helped me acheive everything I wanted to,

So beautiful and A++++. Highly recommended

Bed sizes vary, checking in earlier can mean a big bed. Friendly staff and travelers in general. Quiet, relatively clean (much much better than the ones in manhattan). Book earlier, they get booked up pretty fast. Excellent/friendly/helpful staff, love them.

This Hostel is very close to a metro station, 2 blocks from there.
The rooms are very clean, and comfortable.
It has a common area with fridge, HDTV, computers, sofas and many things very helpful to rest after a long day within the city.
The Staff service within the hostel is very polite.
For me, beside the metrocard and the city pass this was the best decision I could make in NYC.

Room Tip: Bring your own towel and padlock, since as hostel the rooms are shared with people you might not kn...

NY Moore is the place where you want to be!!! And this is not 100, this is 110%.
Let me start with: absolutely conveniently located in awesome Brooklyn - which definitely, totally, has surpassed Manhattan these days, to begin with. The Moore is situated right on the border between East Williamsburg and Bushwick, the up-and-coming neighborhood these days.
A formerly industrial neighborhood, artists have moved into the loft buildings, plenty of hip bars and eateries all over the place and right on the doorstep.
The Moore itself is in a former factory building, so the ‘rooms’ are huge - big enough to go skating or ride a bike in between the beds. Speaking of beds: as an experienced ‘hosteller’, you probably will expect bunk bedded dorms. Not at the Moore! Some of the dorms are made up of just queen size beds, others come mixed queen and twin (single) sized beds, and you will hardly find any bunks. They do have a few, maybe even just a couple. I did try to make them show me all of the dorms, and I did see quite a few, it wasn’t all of them, though. :)
The interior comes in a tasteful, artistic elegance - inspired, I want to say - and most rooms with a real good energy. The place is overall very clean and well maintained.
Manhattan - and, of course, you want to go there, that’s why you came to visit New York in the first place, isn’t it? - is, however, just a stone throw away. NY Moore is served by two train lines, both of their stops a five minutes’ (max!) walk away. The L train - catch it either at Montrose or Morgan Av’s - will take you straight to the Village (East, Washington Square, NYU, West), Chelsea, Gramercy, Flatiron,... - you name it! - within less than 15 mins, the JMZ lines will take you near the lower parts of the Lower East Side, Chinatown, Little Italy, Wall St/Financial District (J,Z) or into Midtown Manhattan (M) within 20 mins - and from there into Queens, if you so wish.
- What else? Staff and management are absolutely gorgeous, knowledgeable, friendly, sweet, caring.. they will find you the best possible bed on offer, they will provide you with any information you may possibly need, tons of which is freely accessible as it is - on the board, at the front desk,... maps, markets, museums, nightlife, gyms, yoga studios, zoos, botanical gardens,...
They’ll sell you sim cards and phones at special offer, umbrellas when it rains, at the front desk.
For Thanksgiving they would serve turkey sandwiches and potato salad for everybody.
The Moore is like home away from home. Or better. - ?? Be careful! You’ll never want to leave again. Or take it with you...
Did I say 110%? Was wrong. It’s a 10000, really!! :)))

I stayed here for just one night between a long international flight and another domestic flight. I was absolutely exhausted, and the staff was SO nice and accommodating and got me checked in quickly so I could take a nap. They have hair dryers available, which is a nice little extra. I was expecting a scary neighborhood, but it was not at all. It's kind of in a warehouse area, but it's not dangerous or anything. On the way from the subway, you pass some organic grocery stores and a bunch of hipster students hanging outside. The NY Loft Hostel is also close by, so you will probably see another traveler or two. I'm female and I walked alone from the subway at night without any worries at all. It's easy to get to the hostel from the airport or Manhattan, and the city is not far away.

The rooms were fantastic--and HUGE. Absolutely cavernous. I stayed in the all-female six-bed room. Each person has a double bed, so you don't have to be all cramped in a little bunk bed. They're well spaced out, so you have plenty of room to spread your stuff around. :) The little living room area in the middle was nice, and there are lockers. The room was super clean and really light and bright. There's also a little common area downstairs with vending machines and stuff, so you don't have to go hunting for late-night snacks. I've stayed at hostels in 43 or so countries around the world, and this is one of my favorites.

I stayed here for a week in October 2012, the week before hurricane Sandy. At first the hostel seemed to be in a bad location, bit of a dodgy area, but once you get your bearings you realise its just a bit industrial and even coming back late at night I never felt unsafe as a single female traveller. It's a 2 minute walk to the subway station and there are bars/cafes close by, one is open 24 hours.

The hostel is very clean, spacious, and the staff are friendly. The room i stayed in (6 bed female dorm) was HUGE. All beds were doubles and again very clean. Even though you were sharing, you felt like you had your own space. There street in front of the hostel was pretty noisy, bad enough to close the windows. But i took ear plugs and slept pretty well most nights.

Free tea/coffee in the common room which also had about 5 or 6 computers with pretty fast internet, DVDs, nice big TV and a fridge, kettle, microwave and toaster. There are also a couple of vending machines for snacks/drinks.

I would definately stay here again, especially with friends as it is a really cool lively area and so worth the money,

Room Tip: Make sure you sit on the bed and test the mattress before taking the bed...just because it looks com...
