First time visiting The Brooklyn Flea and we were not disappointed! Great vintage everything, clothing, jewelry, shoes, records and as it was Christmas lots of vintage decorations. I bought a vintage retro Santa from 1968 for $10. There were also many artisans selling artwork, knits, silver, pottery/ceramics ect. Even if you are not much of a shopper, make the trip just see the beautiful architecture. It is housed ( Oct- May) in the old Williamsburg Savings Bank. Soaring ceilings with towering columns and ornate windows. In the old bank vaults in the basement is an awesome 'foodie' court. You enter through 2 ft wide iron doors ( where they used to keep the cash!) and then select whatever your stomach desires! We timed our visit for lunch and our a family of 5 tried the following, Mac 'n' Cheese with Lobster, heaven! Slow cooked brisket piled up on a bun. Pulled pork sliders with pickled slaw. Ridiculous Chocolate milk shake that had 65% cacao, a great fix for choccy lovers! Check out the doughnut lady, we tried a blood orange doughnut drizzled with raspberry syrup. Lots of organic and take home preserves ect. The subway stop is right outside and the market is a block away from the new Barclays Centre, worth a look also for its design! If you really want vintage then also check out Bedford Street in Willamsburg for a good selection of shops with good prices. Went there on a previous visit and found some great buys, ate at 'Juliet's' just off Bedford, great little French restaurant, had mussels and frites, yum! Love Brooklyn!
