For the last 25 years I have come here every year. It's a festival of lights for the kids of all ages. The place is safe because their are many cops patrolling the streets and besides no one would dare get out of line in this neighborhood. It's Brooklyn's answer to the light festivals in Manhattan. You have to visit if in Brooklyn during Xmas time.

Neighbors try to outdo neighbors in creating the most over the top Christmas displays on their already ornate homes. Everything is larger than life from snowflakes to Santas to nutcrackers and lit up with brightly colored lights. A fun and festive place to visit during the Christmas season. Park on the street and walk around the neighborhood to get the full experience.

Dyker Heights in Brooklyn at Christmas time is a great place to view elaborately decorated homes in festive lights. The trees and bushes are also beautifully decorated with either white, blue or red lights. One one block there are also animated dolls and a person dressed as Santa or a Bunny handing out candy. There is Christmas music playing. Its something to see. Any other time of year the neighborhood is strictly quiet residential. Nice homes on tree lined streets is all you will see. On 13th Ave from Bay Ridge Ave to 83rd street there are a few Italian bakeries and food stores.

I have never seen anything like this! I felt like I was in a movie set with the INSANE amounts of Christmas lights and decor. It was very cool, but traffic was insane. It was warm enough for people to walk the neighborhood, but I would recommend taking a car.

Takes about an hour. You don't need a tour. Over the top competition among neighbors in this Italian American neighborhood,
