Pointe Plaza Hotel
Ranked #27 of 74 Hotels in Brooklyn

Last minute change to this accommodation proved to be a wise choice. We had adjoining rooms with our 4 children and grandparents across the hall. Would never have gotten this set up for this reasonable price in Manhattan! Hotel is 2 years old, clean, and comfortable with soft duvets on the beds. Air coniditioning throughout.

Pointe Plaze is situated in the heart of an Orthodox Jewish community in Brooklyn -- about 20-40 minutes car ride just over the bridge from Manhattan. Area is older, but very safe with mothers and babies in strollers walking on streets well into the evening. The hotel is situated on a busy street corner, so did hear traffic at night, but not sure you can escape this in New York!

Free healthy breakfast served daily consisting of toast, muffins, waffles, various cereals, fruit, yogurt, juice, and coffee. Also, free shuttle into Manhattan each morning (except Sunday) was a great perk! Must find ride back to hotel from Manhattan -- taxis varied in price from $22-35.

Rooms equipped with essentials, although had to ask for more toilet paper and cups which were readily given to us upon request. The rooms have kitchenettes, but there are no dishes, cutlery, or pots and pans to cook. A hot plate/pot can be obtained from the front desk upon request.

All staff were sincere, friendly, and helpful, particularly the manager who went out of his way to offer personalized service, asking us each day how things were and if we needed anything.

We felt very fortunate to have found this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone, but particularly families who wish to see NYC on a budget and are willing to stay outside of Manhattan. (We discovered some great restaurants in Brooklyn!!) The hotel is very clean and safe and the staff are conscientious.

Really just a pretty pleasant stay. We agree with all previous reviewers. The facility is well-run by friendly, helpful personnel. It's in a quiet, predominantly jewish neighborhood in Brooklyn which makes it a bargain for the price-conscious, weary-of-being-overcharged manhattan visitor. We didn't use it, but the free shuttle to Times Square is a pretty nice touch. These same rooms in the city are easily twice this price. The rooms are clean and fairly well-appointed but they do border on the simple. Facility appears to be new. Some reviewers have mentioned the remote location but the G-train is five blocks away and for New York, that's pretty good. So it's easy to get into the city. A short walk to the train, one easy transfer and you're in Union Square. And considering few New York hotels offer breakfast, we found the coffee, juices, bagels, fruits and yogurts a welcomed offering. So all in all, we were satisfied and will keep this hotel on our list. For these items, the PP should get four stars from me.

But no hotel is perfect and we did experience a few blips. We paid the additional charges for an extra adult in our room since our daughter was with us. But we never could get the hotel to provide three sets of towels. The room didn't have an iron but the room description said it did. Further, our room was never really cleaned at night. The bedcovers were straightened and new towels (two sets!) were left but that's all. The room was not vacuumed or given any special attention. Finally, and this is a bit unusual if not irritating, housekeeping tried to enter our room before check out time without knocking. A premium facility is known by the details so in this regard, the PP is found lacking for us. Once the newness wears off of this facility, it will probably drop off our radar. But for now, it's OK for the price.

Room Tip: Rooms without kitchens have bigger beds so be sure to request this if the kitchen doesn't matter...

This hotel was the ideal solution for what we were looking for!
For the following FOUR reasons:
1. Quality of accomodation: opened 9 months ago, this hotel is functional, stylish with a modern touch design of good taste and very comfortable (we travelled with our two kids of 12 and 17);
2. Location: located on a very safe, clean and quiet cross road, close to Brooklyn Bridge and a couple of streets away from Williamsburg, a new 'trendy côté' of New York, this hotel offers the possibility to easy liaise to Manhattan for the day and come back for a well deserved rest, out of the city's turbulence; the walks over quiet Brooklyn Bridge in the morning sun, facing Manhattan's magic will stay in our memories...
3. Facilities: every morning there is possibility to take a free of charge hotel shuttle that brings you to to Washington Square and Time Square; the drivers are very friendly and flexible.
4. Last but not least, the Welcoming: Davy Schwarz and his team (ask also for Daniel!) will do everything they can to provide you with an outstanding stay. They're great and the entire staff, including the household members are extremely friendly.
We thank them because they strongly contributed to the very high quality of our journey to NY....and we will definitely visit them and the hotel again! Philippe Chapel and Family.

This hotel is functional - clean, relatively quiet, nice bed, etc. And it was well priced. I stayed here as a refugee from Manhattan because as sometimes happens, the Manhattan prices were north of $400/night. This was closer to $200. The downside: it is not close to a subway stop (G is the closest and is about a 10-15 min walk). The neighborhood seemed safe enough, but not a particularly lively or inviting one (at least not w/in a several block radius) and there is no health facility here. The "breakfast room" would be better used as another hotel room, as there is not much you will want to actually consume there. And the internet was non-functional in the evening and very slow in the morning. Cab rides to and from lower Manhattan ran about 15 minutes and $15 each way.

This is a lovely little hotel in the heart of Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood. Apparently it was just built within the last year and it shows. Every granite countertop and every bit of stainless shines and gleems. We stayed in one of the top floor suites, which combines a kitchen/dining area with 12 foot ceilings and a huge skylight, along with a nice 2-single bed sleeping area with a view across the hudson to manhattan. The beds were exquisitely comfortable, and the complimentary contintental breakfast includes some very nice baked goods. Whenever we come back to Brooklyn to visit we'll stay here. This hotel is in a very conservative jewish neighborhood, there are mezuzah on the doorframes of each room. There is no TV in the room.

This new hotel was beautiful and clean, with a huge room and a complimentary continental breakfast. It is located in the middle of the Jewish district, so the area is absolutely safe also at night. We decided to stay there because it was the day of our departure, so it was closer to JFK than a Manhattan hotel, and was also close to Manhattan (10 minutes walk from the closer subway station). As I said, it worked fine for us, but if you plan to visit the city more days it is a little bit difficult to move with public transportation from Brooklyn to Manhattan and viceversa (otherwise my rating would have been 5 stars)
I would like to mention the manager of the hotel, that was helpful, kind and friendly.

Just spent 3 nights at the Pointe Plaza and we think it was a great base to explore NYC. Rooms were huge and clean, bathroom was modern and very clean. The hotel was quiet. The staff was helpful. There is a free shuttle that can take you to Union Sq or Times Sq at 8:30 or 9:30. Otherwise, there is a subway station 3 blocks away (10 minutes walk) and you can be in Manhattan rather quickly. The walk back in the evening was OK, we felt safe walking back to the hotel even with 2 kids aged 7 and 4. Breakfast is included.
