This is the only hotel i could afford for a 6 nights stay in NY . if you visit this hotel somethings you should know, make sure you are not in the pets floor, there is no fridge in the room, no microwave so dont bring food to your room , wake up early breakfast it's from 6-9am very limited from bagels to boiled eggs and coffee i came from Arizona where 9am in NY was 6 am my sleeping time and woke up to not having much left, in the positive room was very clean , alot of restaurants and bars very close trains view of bkl bridge , i got there at 10 am and they let me in to my room early check in time is 3pm very nice howevr i was leaving at 6pm and they would let me check out at 3 without extra. my room was very nice howver i wouldnt recommend it because the office and janitorial is right next to it so always doors slaming and the elctrity buzzing off the building it;s there . i would stray here again but in another room then 201 , thank you

Stayed here 3 nights and had no major problems. As other reviewers noted, it's in an industrial, blue-collar area but a local friend thought it was perfectly safe and we never had any issues walking around after dark (although there were always 2-4 of us.) The walk to the subway at 4th/9th is not very scenic (lots of street litter) but only takes about 5-10 minutes.

The rooms were clean but the walls and doors are pretty scuffed up from people banging their luggage into them. The bathroom door is odd - it's two small doors that close in together but leave a crack in the middle - so if you have a roommate, you will know them a bit better after staying here. The TV has about 30 channels; soap, shampoo and hair dryer are supplied; iron and ironing board are kept in a small closet.

Light sleepers should bring ear plugs or book elsewhere. You can stand out in the hallway and hear normal conversations going on inside the rooms. We had a room in the corner and the stairwell was on the other wall, so we never heard adjoining rooms. However, our friends in another room couldn't sleep one night because their neighbors were up talking. We had rooms on the 4th floor facing the street but the road noise was drowned out by the A/C.

Breakfast is not great - both mornings the food was picked over and I didn't want to stand in line to make a waffle, so I ventured out to Dunkin Donuts one morning and a deli the next. Both are less than a block away.

We stayed here because it was free (a friend used her LQ points) and it worked for us for this trip. If you're coming to see NYC, can get a good deal, don't mind a 30 min ride into Manhattan, and won't be bothered by any of the negatives listed above, then consider this hotel.

Room Tip: ask for room away from elevator

We stayed here, I believe after it had just opened. There were some noticeable problems with our room when we first checked in but we were promptly given a new one.

Our room was in the basement but was still pretty nice considering how little we paid.

Breakfast was average- about what you would expect for a place at this star level.

I'd stay there again.

Room Tip: FYI: some rooms are in the basement

We checked in early, with no problems. When we got to our room, my daughter noticed there was butter on the ceiling over the bed! We told the front desk and they sent someone to clean it, he was shocked, having never had to clean that before. The room was clean, has some visual issues. The bathroom is a split door-you can see thru the crack while sitting on the toilet! The closet is a small wooden cabinet, but fits the clothes just fine. The breakfast area is very tiny, like everything else in NY, but it was fully stocked and the attendent replenished as needed. Great Waffles too! The elevator went out for over 12 hours so we had to use the stairs. There is a Dunkin Donuts across the street one way and the other is a deli, 99 cent store, a great bar, pizza place, etc. Nice and close to most things. The subway isn't far either.

Good location in Brooklyn, near Park Slope & super-easy access to the train to NYC (subway) system.

The "Free limited Parking" is just that - extremely limited, so don't expect to get in on the 8-10 spots they have in the back. Boo Bottom line: Don't have a car here, but rather use public transit or walk, like I did.

The Free breakfast is poor, so don't expect a gourmet experience.

This place is good for one thing- very clean, quiet rooms with great air conditioning and easy-to-access subways.

Room Tip: Absolutely press to get a room on the backside of the hotel off of 3rd Avenue!
