Awful.
Had booked a confirmed reservation for part of our honeymoon. We were in town to see a concert, eat well, drink excessively and have a nice day and night on the last leg of our honeymoon. Upon our arrival, we were informed that our reservation was "lost" necessitating a trip to my car to retrieve a hard copy print out of my confirmed reservation.
Once located, I was informed that I couldn't check-in at the normal hour of 1 PM, or even at the hotel's posted time of 3 PM, but would have to wait until 9 or 10 and they "would see if they could accomodate me".
The excuse for the abominable treatment and overly brusque handling of my situation? "We are a Jewish hotel". I don't even know what that means to the hotel-booking traveler, actually. But seemingly the desk-clerk found that an acceptable excuse for incompetency and rudeness.
I appreciate them putting me in an awkward, and uncomfortable position with my new bride by my side. I really do.
The plus side is we booked a new hotel that was better, had a friendly and competent staff, and catered to our needs efficiently and professionally.
The minus side is that, in addition to the anger and embarrassment at that moment, they had the nerve to send me a cancellation notice which irked and incensed me again. I have reached out to both the hotel and IHG and have received no response as of yet.
