The Blue Porch Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #12 of 58 Brooklyn B&B and Inns
Reviewed July 7, 2012

Me and 2 friends stayed at the Blue Porch for a week. We SO enjoyed our room, hosts, their treat breakfasts for us, their choice music, and on top it is so conveniently close to the subway while also a very quiet place and neighborhood. If we go back to NY, we will not look for another place. We'll just go back to the Blue Porch.

We were fortunate to be able to experience a comfortable haven at The Blue Porch. The accomodations were excellent, our breakfasts superb. The location enables easy access to . wonderful Brooklyn.

It was our excellent hosts, Paul and Trudy, that made our stay more than exceed our expectations. Mahalo (Thank you) for your graciousness.

Without any hesitation, I highly recommend the Blue Porch.

My husband and I just did a road trip through the Eastern USA, and had the pleasure of staying at the Blue Porch B&B along with several other Bed and Breakfasts. Every place we stayed was nice, but Blue Porch was by far the most personalized service, and Paul and Trudy made us feel like we were at home. We arrived to a warm welcome, were given lots of information, maps, etc to help with our plans, and awoke each morning to a beautiful breakfast with home made baked goods, fresh fruit and good coffee! Our room was bright and the bed comfortable. We booked the upstairs/downstairs package which was a little cheaper, but due to a cancellation, they let us use the bathroom on the same floor for no extra cost for a couple of days. That being said, the downstairs bathroom was nice as well. Both Paul and Trudy are intelligent and well read, so we had some interesting conversations as well. The location is perfect - only a few minutes walk from the Subway (which can take you pretty much anywhere), and there are quite a few nice restaurants only a short walk away. We'll definitely be returning to Blue Porch the next time we're in NYC!

My family and I count ourselves lucky for having stayed twice at the Blue Porch - once when our daughter was 1 and 1/2, and once when she was 3 1/2. Both our visits were "stay-cations" - we live in Upper Manhattan - but we would wholeheartedly recommend the Blue Porch to first time NYC visitors. Transportation to Manhattan is easy (the train has a great view of the Brooklyn Bridge) and there's car services as well. Ditmas Park is a NY JEWEL - with beautiful old Victorian homes, and a Blvd. with some of the best localvore cuisine ANYWHERE in NYC - with much better prices than Manhattan! The Blue Porch itself is all around lovely - with beautiful, quiet rooms (I wanted to take the two-sink bathroom home with me!) a musically appointed sitting room, and a fantastic breakfast. Paul and Trudi were so welcoming to my daughter (She loved the bed they'd set up for her, and the a stack of beautiful children's books, the homemade rabbit and owl shaped biscuits at breakfast - just to mention a few exquisite details!) They have created a beautiful, peaceful retreat - a wonderful place for New Yorkers to relax or visitors to begin their exploration of NYC.

I can't imagine wanting more from a B&B than my wife and I got at the Blue Porch. Hosts Paul and Trudi were friendly and helpful, and anticipated our every need. The breakfasts were very good, the room (the Octagon) was spacious, the bed comfortable. The location in a very nice neighborhood three short blocks from the Q line was convenient to all our destinations, and there were more than enough good cafes and restaurants within walking distance. We've been to quite a few B&Bs over the decades, but none were better than the Blue Porch.

The warm and generous hospitality of Paul and Trudy (not to mention the fabulous breakfasts!) was the best feature of this outstanding New York bed and breakfast secret. Furthermore, they were exceeding helpful with issues regarding transport, dinner dining and tourist destinations. When I caught a cold, they went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that I had all that I needed to enable me to continue at our frenetic pace. My daughter even received helpful instrumental tips to utilise in her music lessons on our return home...Valentyna

Wonderful place to stay! Hospitality, location, food, atmosphere, accommodations - all spectacular. Couldn't have asked for more in a B&B. We will absolutely return.
