Located in the heart of the business district of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, this restaurant serves excellent Sichuan (spicy) Chinese food. They offer both authentic Chinese cuisine and also list "American Chinese food" on their menu . . . . . there is a distinct difference between the two.

My friend and I enjoyed an order of their spicy fish filets in hot chili oil; a pork and vegetable dish (also spicy); and spicy eggplant in garlic sauce from the authentic Chinese side of the menu and they were great. We also tried the pork dumplings but they did not meet our expectations. Like most authentic Chinese restaurants, they keep your tea pot full.

Service is a bit slow but it's a small place so just don't be bashful. . . . . call for the waitress when you need service. From what we observed, they also do an enormous amount of takeout business.

There is no parking lot but street parking is fairly easy.

Good value. Good food. I'll return!

Grand Sichuan was introduced to us by a friend last year and since then we've been here quite frequently, despite the fact that we as a family aren't really into spicy food. I think it's the flavor that keeps us coming back, and the fact that the food isn't overpoweringly salty as the food that some other Chinese restaurants offer.

Our family favorite is the steamed whole fish with ginger and scallions - very delicate flavor and really, really good. Personally, I like their spicy wonton (wonton in a chili-infused broth), although be prepared to sweat it out with this one. The lamb and cumin was also very flavorful.

Good (although definitely no-frills) place for a family meal or a late dinner.

This is a place that the Voice and Chowhound touted. It is worth he trip. The hot oils were complex and satisfying. The pork dumplings tasted fresh and were satisfyingly chewy. The lamb and cumin was searingly hot but the flavors keep you wanting just one more bite. Incredible dan dan noodles and the crispy salt and pepper shrimp were even delicious luke warm. Better yet it is byob.
