This hotel is a good alternative to satying in the manhattan hotels as some are so expensive. the city is just a subway ride away, get the weekly metro card to save money. The area is fine its next to main shopping street with some great diners nearby for breakfast. the brooklyn heights area is quite near 15 min walk and is full of beautiful restaurants and great views of the city. the hotel itself is clean and the rooms are small but nice and have everything you need. there is no proper bar or food just a small area in reception which is the style of aloft but make sure you kow this before you go as its not for everyone. staff were nice not amazing, seemd to be very busy, twice I was left standing at the desk for over 5mins as the receptionist dealt with someone on the phone. she seemed to be on her own alot. there is a roof top bar but we couldnt go in as my partner didnt have the right shoes which was really annoying. we both had dressy clothes he has shirt, tie, pants but he forgot his dress shoes and so we couldnt avail of the bar. I think they should of made an exception as we were guests of the hotel. if you are staying at the weekend bring earplugs as the music pounding is so loud we found it hard to fall asleep. overall the hotel is a good base for sight seeing you can walk from the hotel to brooklyn bridge and just walk into the city, its great.

Thank you for sharing your experience at the Aloft New York Brooklyn Hotel. My apologies for the wait time at the front desk. The hotel has hired more front office talent members to assist with the increasing occupancy. The Brooklyn Terrace, which is the roof top bar, is operated by an outside vendor. Unfortunately, they do have a strict dress code and have to maintain their policies with all hotel & non hotel guests. As a reminder we do have our W XYZ bar located in the lobby level, which is great for cocktails and starting your night out of town adventure.

Our first time staying in Brooklyn for an event. Great location close to multiple subways and a close ride to Manhattan. We had fun walking around as well. Rooms are good, the lobby is typical aloft: great for kids, tweens and teens and young adults. Service was excellent with the exception of arranging for transportation to airport: we asked for a taxi and got a hotel "private car". The driver was nice and professional but...ended up charging far more than a taxi would have.

Thank you for sharing your experience at our hotel. I am glad you had a wonderful time staying with us and experiencing Brooklyn. There are a lot of great places to visit within walking distance. Subway is only 1-2 blocks away and minutes from Manhattan. Unfortunately, yellow taxis are not possible to call and book transportation. We have a outside car service vendor, which is available throughout the day and evening and provides professional service to the guests. The car service is a private company, so they do charge a little higher in rates, because they have a high premium insurance liability. We want our guests to be safe. For future reference, Flatbush Avenue located 2 blocks from the hotel is a good location to find a yellow taxi.

Had a nice 3 night stay here. Like all Aloft hotels, the rooms are small, but comfortable. Impressed with the cleanliness. Service was mostly friendly but two of the front desk staff were a little annoying with a slight attitude, but others were friendly and pleasant. The neighborhood is okay, very working class and a few more homeless/ street people than I would prefer, but I generally felt safe. Had trouble finding clear directions for getting to the hotel from JFK by train/subway, and ended up taking the long way. Best way appears to be to take the Airtrain to Howard Beach, then take the A-Train (blue line) to Hoyt-Scherner... Station - exit station and turn right, then turn right at corner, walk two blocks, turn right, then left on Duffeld, hotel is on left beside the Sheraton.

We stayed here at this Hotel for a weekend back in November for a family members wedding and we were very pleased. The hotel lobby is a decent size with a small bar on the side for drinks though it does not stay open too late. There is also a small little snack and coffee area in the lobby to buy some snacks or drinks. The rooms themselves are a bit tight but they are very clean and the bed was very comfortable.
-The location of the hotel is not the best, however, it is close to the SUBWAY into Manhattan. The Parking is not the closest to the building but I didn't find it inconvenient.
-The Hotel does have a club on the roof that has an exterior entrance.
-Overall, our stay went without any problems and we would definitely stay again if ever in the area.

Thank you for sharing your experience at the Aloft New York Brooklyn Hotel. The downtown Brooklyn area is definitely up & coming and has a lot to offer. We are walking distance to subway, Brooklyn Bridge, shopping, local restaurants and much more. I'm glad you noticed our W XYC bar which is open every day from 5pm to midnight. We do stay open a little later on weekends depending on the amount of guests. We offer snacks and other options for our guests to Re:fuel themselves throughout the day, which is available 24/7. Please be our guest again when your travels brings you to the NYC area.

We arrived earlier than the 3 pm checkin but there was no problem leaving the bags with the desk. We returned late at night and checked in (with no wait) by Jeanne, who took one look at us and made an extra effort to get us a quiet room.

The room was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable. We checked out in the morning and left the bags at the desk for a couple hours while we got breakfast. The checking out process was very long. People were dealing with more complex issues (can I extend my stay using points tonight?) and only two people were available to help them.

We really appreciated the extra effort taken to provide us with a quiet room. The hotel itself is well located...on a quiet street, close to many subway stations and walking distance to the Brooklyn Bridge.

Room Tip: We were given a handicapped accessible room on the 7th floor which was both quiet and a little bigger than the average room.
