“Great location, overrated ice cream”

I am convinced it is famous more for its location (right on the water, with great views of Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge) and its quaint building (it resembles a lighthouse somewhat) than its ice cream. As others have noted the ice cream is nothing special. It is very creamy but somewhat bland, with little distinction between some of the flavors. The strawberry and the peaches and cream, for instance, were pretty similar. My family much prefers Friendly's ice cream, which is much more flavorful.

There isn't much seating inside, only about three tables. We were there on a cold, drizzly day and had to stand inside and eat. The service is friendly, although I get the feeling this is a "first job" type place. No one behind the counter seemed over the age of 16, so not much of a quaint mom and pop feel.

In short- best ice cream in New York? Not by a longshot. But a pleasant place with nice views.

From the title and ratings we were expecting this to be a big ice cream parlour, with sundaes and a whole variety of ice creams, but it was just a small place, offering a handful of flavours served simply in cups or cones. The ice cream itself though was really good and the portions were huge - in reality we got about four large scoops when we ordered two! The outside area is a nice place to sit by the water, with views of Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan.

After we had walked over the Brooklyn Bridge, it would have been rude not to explore Brooklyn and am very glad we did as we found this very delightful ice cream parlour.

The prices are very reasonable, large portions and very friendly staff. A good selection of ice cream flavours with different cones etc.

What a setting also to have this place, right next to the world famous Brooklyn Bridge, close to Jane's Carousel.

Will definitely be going back again when we venture to NYC!

On one of our recent trips to New York we made the journey over the Brooklyn bridge to get some Grimaldi's pizza and saw this cute Ice Cream Factory and decided to give it a try. That decision was one of the best decisions I have ever made. We all got a different flavor and they were all so good, but my favorite was the chocolate chip. Seriously amazing. This place is also really fun right before sunset, and then you can walk back across the bridge and enjoy the sun setting over the NYC skyline.
