Had chicken and waffles (a first!) and the waffles were to die for. Lots of hipsters here, and the beer comes in little jam jars. Really fun experience and the staff are incredibly friendly. Loved it.

We came here with friends. The restaurant is a short walk from G and C line stations.

Our table shared devilled eggs (excellent) and the kale appetizer (a hint salty, but otherwise very good). My wife and I shared a the mixed greens salad - a little simple, but refreshing.

I ordered the duck confit. The duck was perfect - skin was fragrant, meat was tender and flavourful. It came with a servings of beans and pork belly, which were a bit on the heavier side considering duck itself is pretty greasy. A side of bread, rice pilaf, or spring greens would have been nice. However, the price provided great value ($17).

My wife ordered the burger, which was very good.

For dessert, we ordered the chocolate ganache which was a bit small for $10 but tasty and rich, with sumptuous chocolate flavour. The homemade ice cream on top was very good too.

Overall, a very good restaurant experience. The environment was pleasant, and decor was pleasing. Definitely worth a visit if you're in this area of Brooklyn!

Good for brunch or breakfast but the tables and chairs are a bit uncomfortable so don't go here if you're planning to stay a long time. Creative use of pork and nice flavor to many of the dishes.

I've been to the General four times, always for lunch, and can say outdoors is best, because indoors can be noisy, what with the coffee grinder and crying babies (it's a very baby-friendly place, breast-feeding and all). In any case, the service has always been great; these are people who like people! And the food is the best reason to go. On my latest visit—SUnday brunch—I had the Omelette of the day and a hard cider. The beer list is good, too.

I'm lucky enough to live in the same neighborhood where the General Greene is located and have thoroughly enjoyed a number of meals there over the past few years. Whether breakfast, brunch, or dinner, the General Greene has never disappointed. The quality of the food is fantastic, being part of the recent New Brooklyn Cuisine movement, and the staff are very courteous and knowledgeable. The specials are always a treat beyond the seasonal menu. Also, if you have any dietary restrictions (I'm a vegetarian myself) the General Greene does have options, especially for brunch, so you can definitely have a lovely meal without being an omnivore.
